Rickyy said: I wonder how the engine swap has affected the handling? The 1.7 engine is quite a light unit compared to the duratec lump isn't it? Seems to have rear discs aswell. Bit of a non-story IMO, the guy isn't harming anyone. I never said it was harming anyone, But he is building a track car and is doing things without knowing he'll need them or the difference they make. On the other forum the guys were actually pointing out that the front splitter stops too soon and the rar one will trap more air. Just seems to be done on a 'Need for speed' play station game mind set. As S3fella said, he seems to be making his adjustments based upon the type you would on Gran Turismo. Like I said, Im not rippping him apart, It just seems he's doing it to say he ha sa track car and make it all pretty while trying to maintain he knows what he's doing. I think its more laughable to the guys over here because street racing is a more popular past time here and they know more about these. Still, i think its the track car equivalent of a trailer queen max power car.

Nothing stopping him making adjustments after he has taken it on the track.

Do they realise the diffuser isn't finished and will be extended and end up flush against the floor pan? Probably not, like the guy who thought I'd just fitted electric mirrors, lots of people wading in seeing something and not reading then jumping in with a critism

As said on cs also, many people stick things on without testing or knowing consequences, changing suspension and wheel size will probably have much larger consequences than my diffuser or splitter yet Noone would batter an eyelid about that

At least he is having a crack. The finish looks pretty good considering it is a home made effort.
Crack on I say. Will the car be faster? who knows - will he have learnt something about manufacturing/cars - yes.

At first I thought it was pretty poor.
Reading through the other thread, I understand more - and I can see the logic and he makes some good points about what others do to their cars re: lowering, tyres, etc, whereas these changes show a different approach.
Also, to be fair the engineering is of pretty high standard. Personally I don't like the decals, but each to their own. It is clearly a well looked after car. The only bit I'm less sure about is the R26 comparison.

Good job my friend but the splitter at the front is close to useless due to the length. I wasnt having a witch hunt but it just seems to be a bit of a 'iv got a track car' rather than doing it to make it fast. Comes across as your doing it to have a pretty car. Any plans for engine or fibreglass panels?

Fibreglass panels, I wish lol but Noone makes anything for these, that said I know someone who's going to make me a grp bonnet but its more of a waiting until he's free as its a bit of a favour type thing. Engine work is coming next year undecided on supercharging this engine or dropping the 2l duratec engine in. A lot of the mods are to make way for more power, brakes, diff etc. It's at combe on the 8th, last time it was out was combe so good for comparisons

Without sounding like im having a go, Do you not feel like you could be doing all of this and adding all this weight when your not really sure how it performs on a track?
I dont know you from the next guy, But i'd hate to do all that weight loss work, then put all of this stuff on just for it to make no difference and be heavier than it needs to? Genuine question.
Your plans sound fantstic. You should put a thread in Readers Cars on here, I'd like to see updates.
And i've been sent a few private messages on here from your friends on Corsasport owners asking my username on there, Iv never been a member on there and only heard about it on Friday when I seen your thread on a foreign forum. So please tell them im not part of their little gang or an insider because I feel if i reply to PM's they may start trying to befriend me.

Fair play to you, Keep us up to date as I'd like to see what your thoughts are on the work and changes you've done and wether or not you've felt they improved the car or not.
