Anybody who thinks Ferrari V12's won't continue to dump in value is deluding themselves. I know from painful experience, I've owned a few of them. The 599 is absolutely the best value "super car" out there, but it'll still continue to fall.
It's funny, I bought almost exactly the same car as Chris, a week or so apart, from the same place, in the same way (except using a trade in)............and nobody's asked me about finance. That tells you something.
Took it for a long drive through the south downs across Hampshire, if flies if you concentrate and use the gears well......handling improves with higher revs.
All smiles.
Oh, and Chris, I passed on the HGTE due to your review...........for me it's a GT.

Don't know him personally, but seem to remember him driving in a Ferrari FF with big poncy glasses an crashing into a curb? Nicely made video though. They get prettier and prettier.

It is about 280K though and a great GTB can be had for much less; budget 125k and there are several available. GTB has about 95% of the performance and so aiming for the GTB is a good plan unless collecting is the thing! They aren't even on the same planet IMO PS. Congratulations Chris

Thanks for the info, I won't be in a position to buy a 599 for a few years anyway, but it's on the list of things to do! Managed to meet the other goals I've set myself so let's hope this one stays on track

Can anyone link me to what exactly he did to piss Ferrari off so much?
I would trawl the thread but I'm not reading 11 pages of finance debate.

I would trawl the thread but I'm not reading 11 pages of finance debate. In a nutshell, Ferrari have an obsessive approach to journalists of not letting them drive Ferrari's unless they can send technicians to optimise the car and make sure it wins any tests. Ferrari also have been accused of sending cars to journalists that are not the same as cars that the public can buy. In short, they are accused of cheating in group tests and going to mental degrees to control what journalists say about their cars. Ferrari also get very upset with journalists who dare to criticise their cars or the control freakery the firm applies to everyone. Chris got fed up with it. Ranted a bit in a public forum. Ferrari were upset and so he is now persona non grata.

I've never been adverse to finance, having bank loaned a couple of my cars in the past, but this thread has now made me give serious thought to financing a new car. Might drop by Porsche Reading tomorrow.

Anyone care to tell me which Ferrari, from the last 10 years, has resisted the ravages of depreciation. Thank you

Thank you The F40 for a start, has gone UP in price massively. A number of the other models don't appear to be getting any cheaper either from the quick look I occasionally have.

Got any pics, Pugsey?

TheAntics said: That's amazing, I kind of figured that once you'd started a finance that you kind of had to finish it. The reason I ask is that whilst I love my S4 (controversial I know!) I want a Z3M coupe more than I want my left nut. If there are routes out of the finance on the S4 then I'd change it tomorrow.
Can anyone point a petrol head in the direction of some advice in this regard so I might access the car of my current dreams? I'd love to read about the options out of my finance.
Many thanks Chris/Antics/S4 - I know who this is! Do it! It would be good to look out my kitchen window and see a Z3M Coupe, they're awesome cars! Back on topic it is possible to get out of finance deals, Jen got out of the finance deal on her 500 about a year early and when I sorted out the deal on my MX5 there were clauses saying how much I'd need to pay if I hand it back early.

That's pretty much the only one I can think of. 430 Scud and 458 both seem to be pretty stable price wise too for the moment at least although I can see the 458 starting to fall again where as the Scud may just be depreciation proof for a bit more as it's a bit more "special".

Don't forget F40's were once $1m cars at the height of the bubble, too. There's a big price range also. Doesn't stop it being a fantastic car of course.
