I've been looking for short term European cover all day. This is made challenging by having a 13yr old LWB Shogun with a roof box and towbar mounted bike rack, which means I fall foul of pretty much every policy out there! I clicked on the Adrian Flux thing in Garlick's sticky up at the top of the page more out of desperation than hope, but it seems to be suggesting that I can get 12 month cover including up to 60 days of European travel for £62, which frankly seems too good to be true. Having trawled through the terms & conditions document, I can't see any restrictions at all on the age or dimensions of the vehicle, but on the other hand, the "statement of facts" document on the website does tell me I've agreed that my truck does not suffer from subsidence, and has smoke detectors in all kitchens & bedrooms, so I'm not ready to take it at face value just yet! I'll give them a call in the morning - just posting this because I'm impatient!

Bump on this one. I'd also be interested to know if anyone has actually used the service, and how good it was?

Yes
And very good IMO. They use local services but usually pick up quickly and keep you informed of when they're coming

I used the breakdown cover about 3 years ago from, erm near, Cadwell Park. Great service, they were helpful on the phone, sub contracted the recovery out to a local firm who collected the car and recovered it, the missus and me back to Preston. I'd taken the cover out included with insurance from them and reckon it was £40 well spent. This was on a modified car policy so they do understand we don't all drive the same boring 2 year old box.

I used 'em 4 times in one year- they were always fast enough and never grumbled.

Hello The £62 breakdown cover is for vehicles up to a weight of 2.5 tones so you should be OK. I've never had to call them out myself but my GF has used them in the past. They were very helpful. We lived in Downham Market at the time but they were perfectly happy to tow the car to the mechanic she uses in Norwich which is about an hour-hour 1/2 away.

Well, I phoned them to check that there weren't any limitations I'd not been able to find in the online stuff. There weren't. Given that the breakdown cover was so much cheaper than anywhere else, I thought I might as well get a car insurance quote from them at the same time. Current multi-car policy with Admiral = £998 Quote from Adrian Flux = £829, and they chucked the breakdown cover in for free, so that's £233 saved just off the back of one simple phone call!

Had to use them twice. Obviously subbed out to local outfits but a quick response nevertheless.

Thumbs up for the flux breakdown service - On one occassion when I specifically told flux breakdown that my car was unfixable at the road, and they took me at my word and sent a recovery truck straight away, which arrived in 45 minutes. I have had RAC vans arrive to attempt to fix a rod through the block at the roadside, and then eventually when the recovery vehicle turns up they try to charge extra for a low ground clearance even if the vehicle is at standard ride height...

Well, to round this one out, I did have to use them after my truck engine died terminally on a dual-carriageway in Brittany.
The death of the truck was a complete pain in the arse, but the Adrian Flux people couldn't possibly have been better. they did anything and everything they could to minimise the impact of the breakdown on our holiday, and were superb at every step of the way from initial breakdown to getting us and luggage to our campsite, arranging hire cars (the Renault Scenic is a product of a particularly motorist-hating breed of sadist, but that's not Flux's fault!), getting us a bigger hire car for the end of the holiday to get all our luggage back to the ferry, getting the truck repatriated with us rather than separately etc, etc...
£64 for the cover was exceptionally worthwhile. Just one taxi ride on a Sunday to get me from our campsite to a hire car location 60-odd miles away tripped the meter at €209!!! God only knows how much pain and cost I would've incurred without the cover.

Nah, I needed some new wiring to my coil, a new earth to my ECU, some petrol , and a couple of new engine mounting bolts. After this year of ironing out the niggles, the car has competed 100% reliably and competetively for two and a half seasons

its really nice to hear about good service from an insurance company, most people just come on here to complain. When i was renewing my car insurance about 6 months ago, i was looking at adrian flux through this website but had heard some horror stories about the customer service, so i stuck with admiral. But i might have to search a little deeper when renewal time come around again

I think it's actually Equity Redstar who provide the breakdown policy that Flux sell, and the service itself is offered by IMA breakdown recovery or something like that.

Hello Thank you for the thumbs up to the Flux breakdown cover. I'm glad you managed to get sorted out to your satisfaction although I'm sorry to hear that you broke down in the first place. Ash
