I know things are a foot in the motor industry. But any younger well off petrol in the UK or the EU at large will be knocking at the door or Porsche, BMW or maybe Lotus. All offer a manual box. In the US £50k or maybe $50-60k pitches it right at the heart of things like top spec Mustang's, Camaro's and more than a few Vette models. All again either exclusively or available with manual gearboxes. I'm a huge Jag fan, always have been. But a manual would be my choice. I'd have having a manual as an option, even if it didn't sell hugely well would be important just from a marketing point of view and getting people into showrooms.

Besides - the point is the weight hasn't been released yet, how do PH know? Not released, 1600kg was presented previously with concept. I hope it is light. At least lighter than bulky corvette. Do you know how much a Corvette weighs?

I'd take it as an automatic happily. But instead of the shift knob you get on Jaguars now, I'd prefer a lever. Pushing that lever from P through to D is just a nice feeling.

This should take the aesthetic crown I think.... AM V8 or this... Judging by that coupe photo, the Jag takes it for me... superb effort.. it could weigh 2 tonnes for all I care..

Either that or someone somewhere is trying to start a rumour. Huh? No, it was in an interview in CAR. They referred to it as 'Jaguar's Evoque' because it represented a new, design-led market for the company, and like the Evoque it needs to appeal and sell instantly. Can't see how that's 'hearsay and conjecture', especially given that it comes from the same company who makes the Evoque.

Have seen the 'hacks' driving around A45/A46/M40 area (in fact two different cars on tuesday), the proportions look great in fact similar to my Griff just with a slightly higher bonnet line.

Bring it on. I think it will fly out the factory looking like that. Ian Callum needs a knighthood for saving Jaguar from its past.

That's a worthwhile comparison actually - it'll be the first British car in a long while that's approached the TVR recipe of a curvy V8 roadster. Won't be as raw as a TVR, obviously, but it's in a similar spirit.

Interesting. Either PH or Jalopnik made a typo.
Jalopnik says that the supercharged V6 will have either 250 or 280 hp. That would seem kind of low though...

The new alfa 4c is rumoured to be around 40,000ish. It might make a decent alternative and certainly looks the part!
