Strange. That looks a totally different car than the images in this thread, much sleeker and longer.

I'd happily tell the design team what I think of this jag f type.

I'd tell them it's a poor effort it looks like they're still in the MG -F design era, is that why they've called it the F type in memory of the MG-F .
Maybe it's the same design team who are now at Jaguar?

It looks dull. Nothing like an e-type

At least porsche have maintained a line a silhouette which is undoubtedly porsche.

Jaguar have yet again failed to build on their history and design a car which could be viewed as a modern E type.

And auto only ! Yep NO manual option !!!! So it's a real drivers car then ......

If the F type is not a car trying to appeal to the retired couple living in Surrey then WTF is ?

Aston Martin are also guilty of watering down their heritage they haven't got the balls to take a risk or the skill to design a modern DB to make heads turn.

Ferrari with the 458 Italia have shown what can be done regardless of all the safety regulations .

Imo nothing about this F type appears to lift the brand or revive the excitement of the E type

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

The design team would happily tell you it's camouflaged so you don't really know what it looks like.

Was it supposed to look like the E-Type?

You've clearly never driven a modern Jag with the ZF gearbox have you? They're fantastic, offer better performance and economy. I used to be all about manuals until I drove one, now I'd have one in a heartbeat. Personally I believe manual gearboxes are a dying breed.

Retired couple in Surrey? Change the record.

Ferrari 458? What? It's a pretty car? I'm fairly certain the F-Type will be too.

You have no hard evidence and yet appear to be basing all of your opinions on the way it looks...

And that my friend is what is so wrong with our British mentality... Looking backwards, looking to the past and tradition. All very nice but it won't get you very far. The company was going slowly down hill trading on it's past while sales dropped, customers jumped shipped to more forward thinking brands. The XJ looks nothing like the XJ's of previous decades... The company has reinvented, has new design language and they've been selling well.
I bet if they'd done some retro E-Type car people would be saying it wasn't E-Type enough. It looks like an MGF! That statement is laughable. A 2 seat convertible yes but... I don't think many people will agree with you.
Get your head out the past...

Sadly I think they make a valid point. It probably smites because it does indeed cut a bit too near the truth.

First rule of business is to not make a product that your target customer can't afford. Or, to put it another way, work out who can afford your product and make it for them.

So, as a simple exercise, which groups in the West have money and which single group has none and won't have for a long time?

Jaguar are clearly making this car for the people who actually have the money to buy it.

What like BMW and the Mini?

BL made the Mini Metro! This is like that 100% Genius....

If BMW owned Jaguar and could build a new E-Type do you really think it would look like this heap of site. IE like an MG-F?

I don’t...

It's a half arsed effort to make a value for money sports car which is what the E-type was in its time.

But this thing at £50,000 looking like a bitsa this and bitsa that is never going to grab the public imagination it's destined to be just another failure.

It would love to compete with Porsche or Ferrari of Even a BMW M3 but hasn't got a hope.

If it had a dramatic design "a la E-type in its day" then it may have a chance.
But just look at it looks like a bitsa .....
Have you seen a Mini next to a BL Mini? Hardly the same car really is it. The Mini was value for money, the BMW Mini is hardly what you'd call value for money but has been a roaring success. Not sure where you are going with the Metro being 100% genius. The Metro went best seller on debut for a few months helped by mostly oldies and patriots then normal service was resumed.
"But this thing at £50,000 looking like a bitsa this and bitsa that is never going to grab the public imagination it's destined to be just another failure." PR1964... you are obviously Thee Man. Let's revisit this when it goes on sale smile

You can't even see the car properly, but you can say it's not dramatic and looks like ste?

Saw a small, convertible, camouflaged, Jag tearing round the 'ring on Tuesday. Sounded great and if it is an F type it is much smaller than I thought. Cannot wait for the official release images.
Exactly... A lot here seem to think it's near the size of the XKR... The F-Type is a lil bigger than the Boxster/Cayman. I can't wait either.

Exactly!!! A silly idiotic response from me... But what pains me the most is I let myself down, I dragged myself down to your sorry level. I don't like it, I feel vile and ashamed. rofl
This will be my last response until at least the F-Type is revealed... But I will be keeping a close eye on your posts, you amuse me tongue out

I'm sure it'll look great, but I'm disappointed it just looks like a mini XK, rather than more like one of the early prototypes:

That looks like the XJ220 and a Alfa 8C had an illegitimate love child.

Not sure if I like it or not. scratchchin
