I think we can all agree that the cars were quite random with a British slant mixed in with BMWs lot.

I think they should cut up Damien Hirst's Union Jack, frame all the pieces and pop them all onto the auction site too. There's probably over £200k just lying there on the floor, so long as Hirst signs each one of course.

What was British about BMW?
The MINI is built in Britain, as are the engines and Rolls Royce models also, among other factories for sub assemblies. Oh and it provides 19,000 jobs for Britain too.

Ironic because she was only being paid a pound, or ironic because she didn't pay for the Phantom at all? Or not really ironic at all, really?

I know, lazy post, just recycling from the other thread.
Are you really so dumb you can't see the irony?
That made me sick... its not about the bling bling.. do me a fking favour! 1 million pounds worth of rollers.. having some bird who had forgotton her pants skwaking a load of crap kind of pissed me off.

On the other hand the spice girls jumping out of LED covered black cabs was just brilliant.

For reasons I'm struggling with I adore those Phantoms (plain white please) and I know it's likely just wishful thinking but you could perhaps imagine in 60 years there being a bit of kudos around the three cars.

Where are they now in 2072 articles in Classic and Electric Car :-)

I fail to see why people were so baffled by the Rollers. She was being driven in a Roller whilst saying life is about more than this.

She has a fit body but she also has a square lego man head.

SO many attractive female athletes as well as performers and models during the ceremony, I personally didn't think Jessie J was anything special by comparison. Fantastic voice though.

Where the the Rolls Royce's all LHD - didn't notice that? If so, I guess they've probably got homes already lined up for them.

See - Rolls know how to cash in, in style rather than crass remote controlled cars! :-)

Very dissapointed that there wasn't a Caterham present...would be nice to support current manufacturers rather than the old ones that went bust...or got bought by the germans...

Really? Seems rather remarkable given the clear "no logo" brief and BMW sponsorship. confused

Anyone else spot an Audi?

I thought the cars were part of the history lesson in that in the past 50 years most of the manufacturers have passed into foreign ownership but we've hung onto the fashion, dance and music industry. In other we gave the good stuff away and kept the krap!!

Incidentally isn't the company that makes the Black Cab also owned or part owned by the Chinese outfit Geely? I know there's some connection.

RR should have put one of these in each car to make them that little bit more special:

Yup.

I think the problem is that people get confused between this intangible sense of Britishness and what's actually under 'British' ownership. If they were only showing what was British owned then half of London's skyline would be flat as they would have had to remove quite a few of the buildings!

Britishness has never been a constant 'thing', it's forever evolving and nothing we can do can stop that. Great Britain has been changing since it's 'creation'.

Also if BMW paid £25million, they basically paid for the opening ceremony. Danka Munchen!

Judging by the picture of the interior it was pre specced for some foreigner with no taste. Yuk.
