Had forgotten about the Volkswagen Polo Harlequin until I saw this one on on eBay.

Is it wrong to really want to buy it to tuck away for 25 years?

Whilst it may be a curious thing, it should be remembered that's it's JUST A POLO IN A POSH FROCK. I doubt it will be worth anything significant in the future.

I went to a quite a posh school, some girls mum used to pick them up everyday in one of these

which led to the girl in question being called 'Rainbow'

I saw one yesterday funny enough, but you don't have to be posh to own a harlequin, as there seems to be loads round this way.
Just drive through any council estate your see dozens parked up, the most common variant I find is the vectra harlequin, followed very closely by the mondeo mk 1/2 harlequin.
With the mondeo gaffa tape bumpers are an optional extra. Lol

I went for a weekened to Warwick this time last year and whilst out walking I came across a house with two pristine Polo Harlequins parked outside, they certainly stood out from the rest of the streets mundanos and grey rep mobiles. Are they any more expensive/sought after now regarding a similar condition 'regular' Polo?

I wonder what colour it says on the log book, looking at the body shell i'm guessing it's yellow.
I know with smart cars all of them are either classed as black or silver, whatever the colours of the panels.

On them it's to do with the colour of the tridion body shell.

At least if you bash a wing or a door you don't have to worry about getting a particular colour!

My Boxster is classified on the V5 as "Multi coloured" I assume this is because it Estoril Blue with a black hood?

Funnily enough I spotted one of these just a couple of days ago. I remember at the time immensely disliking them but I actually dont mind them at all now (perhaps my taste is maturing).

It's been in a massive crash and only the bonnet and rear door survived.

I always wondered what the VW paint code was for these, and what they'd give you if you went in for a chip-stick and gave them the paint code smile

i'd be tempted by a really clean low mileage one as i'm always on the look out for funky stuff to sticker up & advertise the business, but to be honest i just see an old polo that'll end up being a steady run of repairs to keep going
