Should not read anything about old(er) skylines.. just make me want my R32 back desparately.. One of the few cars I dream about owning again on a near daily basis, even if it was the loudest thing to grace the roads, had no working stereo and annoyed the hell out of everyone at work and anyone who tried to have a sensible conversation with me whilst driving it..

I know hehe 330 bhp would be quick enough for me, remember they never had 280ps. wink
It's not that hard to turn a mildly modified R34 back to factory, the Nissan dealers can source the usual parts that were changed, such as the exhaust midpipe and backbox, dampers and springs.

The standard R34 GTR, much like the R33 and R32 all made around 280 HP, give or take 5% - the reason why the old GTR's seemed to accelerate quicker than their rated horsepower is due to the ceramic turbos and short stroke 2.6 litre straight six engine, it would happly climb up the RPM range while under load a fair bit quicker than say a 280 HP M3.

More importantly, how flinkin' early did you have to get in to take a photo like that in the Haymarket car park?!

In today's world of chunky slab-u-like car design, the R34 GTR has nailed that fine balance between aggression and sophistication - a quality that you wont find with most cars.

Ha! The car park had been cleared for the previous evening's Classic & Sports Car party...

What I like about the R34 is that it appears big but is actually rather small

The new GTR looks mahoosive, and it is. Scale it back 80-85% and it would look a heap load better IMO

Like so many here it would seem, the Skyline was for me a childhood dream. It was the height of coolness. Nothing was more awesome than a Skyline. Its great to see it here so many years on and getting so much appreciation.

Just makes me miss my R33, wish I'd never sold it. I also managed to loose all photos I had of it after a pc failure. I had one of it in front of Guildford cathedral that I wish I still had - the car/cathedral are not pretty, but seemed to match..

Well, I had a story about the whole affair published in Evo back in the day so it's no secret! But the abridged version is games journos borrow a Skyline in an attempt to replicate gaming experiences in real life, wish that you could just hit restart... The plan had been to try and drive circuits we'd been featuring in games recently so we went to Le Mans and were intending to then go to the 'ring. All told it's probably best we only made it as far as Indianapolis before a minor but terminal (as far as the trip was concerned at least) interaction with the Armco occurred. Over the intervening years you'd be forgiven for thinking the car cartwheeled into the trees, through a convent and exploded into a million pieces but the reality was a lot more dull and only really involved a cracked headlight, bit of bumper damage and knackered intercooler ducting. Massively embarrassing/humbling/etc... but we got the story.
I remember reading that- I didn't realise it was you though. I've still got that mag at home somewhere, I'll have to dig it out...
