It's nice one, and you knew what you were looking for, what about the ones you walked away from that less informed people would buy ?.

Id like to think that anyone buying a specialist car of any make or model is going to do a fair bit of homework/research first.
More the fool them if not!

Out of intrest what TVR do you own, and the miles of each? Only asking as I had a TVR chimaera and now have a 3.0l z4 and I have found the z4 far more reliable than the TVR! I think though German reliability reputation is greatly exaggerated !
Griffith 500 - 90k+ miles
330Ci Sport - 99k miles

As I'm posting, my boss has a 1998 Audi S6 Avant with many, many optional extras (DVD screens in the back, etc). The engine has gone thanks to a damaged drivebelt so pistons probably hit valves, etc. If anyone wants a project car, he only wants a few hundred quid for it. PM me.
<I've checked the rules of posting, this is not intended to be an advert (car is not mine), more a question as to whether anyone is interested, hopefully not breaking any rules?>

Nice choice of TVR lovely lovely car and been used rather than collecting dust! Well I hope I do not experience any of the issues you had with your 330ci with my z4, else I'd have been better off keeping the chimaera!!

So if so many people are scared of a high mileage Audi (with German engineering reputation etc etc) how much would anyone pay for my 190,000 mile TVR (with it's Blackpool build quality reputation etc etc)?
8 year old T350t, one owner from new. Only used on sunny days, rainy days, snowy days and other weather days. No more than 5 trackdays a year. Garaged and meticulously serviced.
No intention of selling, why would I, but interested to know what any one thinks. More than the Audi or less?

Beautiful car but for that price it's still far too high mileage for me. The argument that mileage is not actually that relevant is true in many circumstances, but there are limits to it. I wouldn't trust most 'normal' modern petrol engines beyond about 180k - 200k, let alone a high revving, high performance engine from the 90's. It's clearly been well looked after to get that far in the first place but seriously, how much more could you seriously expect out of it before it needs replacing or rebuilding? 5k? 10k? Tops! That's a big outlay for only 6 - 12 months of fun in my book.

You'd need a mortgage to do that many miles in the first place wink

Come on, how many engine rebuilds have you had, or has it survived due to actually being used unlike most?

Did the Buyers Guide on S8s in PPC Magazine about 3-4 years ago mention an Audi autobox repair specialist?

Searching around the web finds prices of £1500 for a recon and £100 for a service and 'master kits' of rebuild parts on eBay from the US.

Which would make it a very cheap RS6 would it not? (Presuming no more lurking bork...)

Think my RS is for sale at RSJ if anyone is looking for a decent one
It's on the Autotrader website but not their Porsche only website when I looked.

The MRC tuned one for £9500 looks a better bet to me. Half the mileage for 35% more in price.

Credit to Andy from Audi SRS for the heads up - this car has now been clocked. Shame the comprehensive full service history that was present has now been chucked in the bin. The new seller states "As I got it in part exchange I have not got much history with the car, I have few receipts and bills."

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2001-B5-AUDI-RS4-AVANT-2...

It still beggars belief how many B5 RS4s are clocked.

Shouldn't eBay/police be informed about this so said seller can face the charges he is due to face for illegally clicking a car and selling it. These people need to be caught and face the music.

The blokes got to be stupid really, most people who are going to buy a car like that are going to do a bit of internet searching. Its not the sort of car the normal punter would even look at, you have atleast be some way involved in cars to throw 10k at an old audi.

eta, just typing in the reg of y536 yrv brings up an srs post of it being for sale with 180k on it rolleyes

When you click on the advert link in the article it now comes up with 'advert rejected' with some stuff about fraud warnings underneath? It was dodgy then, or just an alternative to 'advert expired' that's something to do with the changes in the classfieds and the beta?
