RE: 991 Carrera 4 announced
Discussion
These will be great everyday cars. The 4wd make every iteration so much more useable in all conditions. Not the purest of the 911s but Porsche need to keep all the bases covered, and if they sell bucket loads (as they will) the money made will be guaranteeing GT3s etc will more than make up for the range fillers that are out there. The 'Standard' Carreras are fantastic cars and on an everyday winter/summer use basis, these will be just as good (speaking from experience). Unless your journey to work everyday takes the shape and demands of Silverstone, I don't think 8/10ths of the time you'd notice much difference.
The one model that I never really got was the Targa. That just shouts out money rinser to me. For me, it is just too compromised on all levels. Its a 911 just for the sake of it. Sunroof not good enough, get the soft top. But if they sell, great for Porsche.
Get the GT3 / GT3 RS out!

Funnily enough, I never liked 911 convertibles, but I like the look of the Targa .I've noticed that in recent months Pistonheads headlines seem to be slightly cynical. While I'm sure most people agree that the 911 variants are quite repetitive and predictable, it seems a bit hypocritical to write that 911s are getting a bit too grip fixated, we really don't need grippier ones, then follow it with a photo caption of 'Wake us up when the GT3 arrives'. The GT3 will undoubtedly be the grippiest of the lot. So do you want grip or not?
Perhaps if they did a bargain basement version with 215 section Pilot Primacy tyres so the grip runs out quite suddenly that would make all the purists happy? Or even a front wheel drive version? That will provide fk all traction with the engine in the boot.

Now. In my 21 years of being a massive 911 fan. This picture is the first ever pic. From any angle, of any 911 convertible variant that looks like something I'd consider buying!
The badges on the back look f-ing awful!Debadged it would look awesome though.

Do I read this story correctly that both the C4 and the C4S are now wide-bodied? I know the 996 C4 was narrow bodied, and think the same was true of the 997 C4.
Both the 997 C4/C4S were wide bodied 1852mm vs. 1808mm C2/C2SThe 991 is the same C4/C4S 1852mm vs. 1808mm C2/C2S
