Amazing video!

Having never watched the series back in the good ole days but an avid watcher of the current V8 supercars, I can see where most of the drivers took inspiration from. Craig Lowndes has most certainly taken a leaf out of brocks book.

See below

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmjRZ-H2IMQ
Lowndes was essentially PB's protege, PB his mentor, for a while team mate and then close friend. He coached him in every aspect of the sport and many aspects of combining the sport and his personal life. I couldnt really love the guy (Lowndes) and gravitated more towards Skaifey, but Lowndes is an epic driver. He's almost an honourary Brock actually in a lot of ways.

That would explain alot! might need to do some trollin g of utube for this kind of thing. Skaifey was bit before i started watching aswell to be honest, but i do like pit lane banter between him and the commentators, DC and martin brundle could learn a thing or two. think was 2010 season i really started watching it and ever since then i have been a team vodafone supporter. Lowndes for the amount of drifting he does and Whincup just for his schumacher esque ability to see what is goign to happen in a race and walways be in the right place at the right time.

If anyone is interested, the officail v8 supercars youtube channel has been uploading full races online to watch, http://www.youtube.com/user/V8SupercarsOfficial?fe... pick any race and something will be going on worth watching, (not to mention Jacques Villeneuve has done last few rounds aswell)

WAAAAAAAH!!!!

PH you've completely made my day by putting the Great Peter Brock on the front page.

Just watched it again, obviously. It doesn't get any better. That's my childhood and every aspiration I had until I was old enough to know better, right there in those couple of minutes of footage.

I could bore people forever about what a fan I am (enough to know he was something of a flawed genius, it's true), but it might be easier to just show off my numberplate:

Good effort! I would have thought HDT was preferable to AUS (if available!)....

I used to watch the Bathurst 1000 from start to finish on the TV as a kid in the 80s. What a great flashback this video is.

thumbup

Well the nice thing about the plate is that it applies to me also. HDT would have detracted from its double relevence.

Legend.

Countdown till race day now!

Usually get round the track once every other week, coming down the mountain at race speed must be mind blowing, I don't know how you would mentally keep up.

Amazing lack of contact in that Elise race, the guy in the camera car was certainly determined.

Personally I'm a Ford fan, watching Sierra Cosworths during my teenage years with Dick Johnson as my hero. The main reason I bought one 10 years ago and no intention of selling it. Even Ford fans admire Peter perfect though and if any of you guys have got a few dollars to spare you can buy his Commodore. It's for sale in my hometown here in NZ (Queenstown). I'm more than happy to test drive for any of you guys who are interested

I see there is another one for sale in OZ, but this is the VP model for sale in this video?

I drove round Mount Panorama in my ex-Australia Post Office 1992 Nissan Urvan. Just saw a sign for it and recognised the name while driving my campervan round the country. You can just drive straight on there, it's a one-way road with people's driveways right off it.

There's a blanket 60km/h limit if I remember rightly, but that was mostly ignored by the Commodores and Falcons hooning around the place. I set a time of 6m15s from a standing start, not exactly impressive but not too bad for an old bus fully loaded and with a roof rack. The old girl was never the same after hitting 130km/h down Conrod Straight, but every time it overheated and sprayed the cab with coolant I remembered the good times smile

And people wonder why I struggle to understand the appeal of NGTCs in BTCC...Cynical driving and dreadful sounding - and looking- cars with their wheeezy little front wheel driven fours. Would crawl over broken glass to see fields of V8 saloons racing here.(Except in case of HSCC who very sensibly feature plenty of Detroit iron )

I was waiting for that one to come up, I thnk it's my favorite. I've read a story in wheels about it where a British journalist watching the lap was overheard saying 'my god, that young man has no imagination'. Poor old Glen, he should have won it dozens of times.
