Damn, got really excited then, not that I don't love the 'old' Esprit, but I thought I was about to read a road test of some new concept Esprit.

As much as I love the V8 (Sport 350), it would have to be a GT3 or a nice S4S for me. Prefer the old shape rear lenses too.

Great car.... Though I still struggle with the 'revised' rear lights. Always a hint of 'aftermarket bolt-on'.

I know it's got "history" in the 007 sub but I hate "common white" cars. Should have left it red.

That would look lovely next to my white S1.

Definitely send in the monkey for some drifting video action. wink

Yeah, my thoughts too, I've seen a couple of DB7s with round rear lights and thought the same about those too.

Exactly the reason I don't own one (I'm 6ft 7in). There was an immaculate, low mileage GT3 for sale for £14K a short while ago, all I can do is admire the photos and have a little cry. So ridiculous that I can drive an Elan which is half the size but not an Esprit.

This!

Reverted to the original Mk3 lights or some modern LED interpretations would have been the icing on the cake. The early-noughties trend for round rear lamps in square apertures ruined the look of many a car of the day (Calibra and X-Type being two notable examples).

come on grow some balls and put this beasty back in to production, even it has everything new under the skin that shape is iconic and would still be a worthwhile member of the retro supercar club..

The Esprit was already spoiled by then. The "Fezza" rear
lights finishing the design off, not so nicely.

How much do people reckon this will sell for? Would LOVE to own an Esprit, but can't really justify the cost of a nice, late model frown mortgage comes first!

Would love this - http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/4187916.htm

I see Rover 200/25 air vents, Peugeot 106 switches and Vauxhall gear stick and(I think) indicator/wiper stalks as well as possibly a Ford switch by the cigarette lighter!

Lovely stuff!

Indeed it is! On the other hand if you had bought a Ferrari made in the same period all you would have to fiddle with was cheap Fiat switch gear, how tedious.

Oooh. How much do the V8s cost to run, realistically?

the esprit really still is one of the best looking super cars ever made. We also know how rare this machine is... But need i also remind people that it didnt quite do what a ferrari or lamborghini did, so as a 10 year old "lotus" its value cant be much more than a normal Esprit except add 15% for the modernisation/ refurbishment works. this one has no race pedegree so its unlikely to go for too much of a premium. Its just a really nice sorted Esprit. Certainly one to buy at sensible money. Again, its not the first nor last esprit to roll off the production line etc...

This one for me please:

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/4187908.htm

Those are what the rear lights are supposed to look like.

And it doesn't have a big heavy lump in the back ruining the handling. getmecoat
