RE: Peugeot 208 GTI: pictures
Discussion
"2013 could well be the year that the Renaultsport Clio 200 loses its small hot hatch crown; not only does it see the launch of a new Ford Fiesta ST, the Peugeot 208 GTI also reaches Britain."
According to one of the weekly motoring magazines, the chassis of the 208 will be softer than that of the Clio.

The 206 GTI is probably the last decent-looking Peugeot. It's also surprisingly fun to drive and has handles well. Not the most economical, mind.
The new model looks like it's got a classy interior but, performance wise, there's not a lot between the new model and the 12-year-old GTI with 180bhp.
Shouldn't be too hard to improve over the basking-shark faced 207GTI, that thing was horrible looking and had a rock hard suspension.

I had a 206 GTI (well Grand Tourisme), and I have fond memories of it. Aside from the sloppy gear change, it was a cracking car. I didn't even mind the hard plastics.
I'd like to see the 208 as a winner, but it looks a bit odd both inside and out. The dash is topsy turvy for want of a better description and the wheels look like cheap 90s "upgrade" wheels.

Very good, Polo is 1269 with autobox.
Yep, pretty promising. Would love to know the real weight of a production specimen with average trim.Love the comments saying it looks bland. You just know that if it was a bit more funky people would call it chavvy. You can't win on PH!
The position of those clocks is unforgivable though. BMW partially obscure the clocks in favour of a smaller wheel on the F30 3 series, but this might be a big problem for them.

Love the look of it and thats comming from a 205 gti owner.
Why should new hot hatches be about chasing numbers? Under 7 seconds is plenty and we all know how dodgy peugeots own figures can be so i'd wait untill the press get thier hands on some
Lets just hope the handling and feel is better than thier past few attempts!
Hopefully i'll get a go due to my brother working for peugeot

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and all that shizzle, but I think you're in a minority with that one.Truly the ugliest cars in popular use in the country. Almost an entire generation has become accustomed to them, so that they no longer see just how ugly they are. It is as if Peugeot have ruined the aesthetic sense of a generation.
Absolute munters.

You're probably right but in my opinion I think it's the last model before the uggers came through. It also still looks relatively fresh compared to its rivals of the day.

Saw a four door of one of these in Spain on my holiday. In the flesh, it looked horribly out of proportion from all angles. Also, why did they not put red carpet in? For the money I’d rather have an original 205 and then a second hand Mondeo for reliable driving. I say this because I have a CTi and it breaks down a lot, not because I hate peugeot.
Anyhow will reserve judgement until a proper driving review comes out.
Well my 137k Mile 205 GTI has never broken down or missed a beat....200 miles covered this sunday for the PH Sunday Service pure joy!Anyhow will reserve judgement until a proper driving review comes out.
I have to say my 25 year old 205 1.9 GTI has had less faults than my 2010 Audi A6 TDi....
205 are old cars now and need proper maintenance to keep them running right....if you dont do this you are going to have reliability issues!
I for one am looking forward to the national launch of this car not because Peugeot want to use my 205 GTi next to it but because from what I have seen and heard this is going to be the closest thing in many years to the legend that was the 205 GTI.
However, I bought my CTi about 1.5 years ago and clearly it has been ragged the st out of many a time. I’ve constantly had to buy new parts for it since the start of ownership. The engine in general is pretty tired. Its sitting on the drive at the moment because some berk installed the immobiliser with wires that are too thin and it has being causing headaches since I’ve owned it. Now it won’t start. If/when I buy another GTi or Cti I would buy a more reliable car for work.
That’s a point: when will we see official 208 Cti pictures?
