Every time i See one of these I always think of the lovely 2 ladies driving one at the beginning of Cannon Ball.
(I appreciate the film was sped up but for a spotty teenager life could get no better)

Up there with the Pink Panther car for me in terms of being a thing of motoring wonder, never really want to drive either, well perhaps the Lambo.
Suspect they are a pain in the backside and a diesel BMW would make faster progress for most of us due to utter terror in the Countach due to the very real possibility of it spitting you off the road if you take liberties.

The original, uncluttered with wings and wide arches, looks best for the road cars. Looked sensational as a racer though: I'll second that. In 16:9 please. That's hell of a genius shot!

Unfortunately, not yet had an opportunity to find out for myself. +1 I've yet to read a review which praises the driving experience. I'ld love to find out for myself, but fear this will never happen. I've only ever seen one on the road many years ago and it hadn't lost any of it's drama and I doubt it ever will! I haven't driven one but did get the chance to sit in one a few years back. Probably the most uncomfortable driving position imaginable to be honest but it wouldn't put me off buying one if I had the money!! Although there are unfavourable reviews out there, mainly from the current Top Gear presenters. I have come across a couple of old reviews, one from Car magazine which at the time found that although the Countach was a bit of a mare around town, it was an absolute weapon out on the Welsh test route. So from what I can gather, so long as you intend to drive it rather than pose in it you will enjoy it!

I'm very much an 80s child but the countach never did it for me. 959 or F40 all the way.

So from what I can gather, so long as you intend to drive it rather than pose in it you will enjoy it! I think the clue here is the reference to "old reviews". When I was about 12 one of my prize possessions was a copy of Car magazine (I think it was Car - it was over 30 years ago!). Had a huge article on the then current version of the Countach. God knows how many times I read it or gawped at the photos. I am pretty sure that it was written in a reverential manner with no hint of criticism. Maybe the fact that it doesn't get glowing reviews today is because there has since been much better supercars. Not sure though because I recently drove a 2.7 RS, which is even older, and that was amazing and just as brilliant as all the reviews I've read (although to be fair I've never read a bad review of the 2.7 RS). For me supercars should be difficult to drive in a positive way (I understand an F40 falls into that category), rather than difficult because you can't see out of it, push the clutch down more than 10 times an hour or reverse it without climbing out of the car. Still looks bloody lovely though

It's not what you do It's how you do it. Be anything you want to be It's not what you got It's how you use it You be you And I'll be me It's just a matter of style You can fake it Mile after mile Feeling free If you got the soul you can make it Move-em out Let 'em roll From sea to shining sea Ball Cannonball CANNONBALL
