Odd, so much ove this car, yet it leaves me rather indifferent. Really dont like the looks at all.

One of the few cars that I seem to dislike thats against the grain of general PH opinions.

Not keen on the additions made for the Anniversary and the earlier models looked a wee bit apologetic with the narrow (comparatively) bodywork.
Evo Harry's QV is Countach perfection to me: Right model, right colour, no wing.

Mel Nichols (then of Car magazine) drove one back from the factory alongside a Urraco and Silhouette. I can't remember if this is a reproduction of his original words, or a retelling of the story, but it makes for a great read either way.

I recall every Countach article which made purchase of the relevant mag essential. I recall the Mel Nichols' piece and how it blew away an XJS like it was going backwards (maybe not so great an achievement in retrospect) but you savoured every word in an age where journos weren't so lazy and let the photos do the talking. I still recall marveling at 345/30 tyres.

I was disappointed when Autocar tested a white later model and it only hit 164mph and the acceleration suddenly didn't seem that specatcular.

Like most, my favourite was the 5000QV and to be fair, I'd take the OTT wing every time as it was the reason it made so many posters - it was a ground-based aircraft. The sh*t bodygit and strakes on later models ruined it's film star looks.

I even considered adding to my mortgage for a low mile black Countach 5000QV at £45k once but my cahunas shrank at the thought. Wish I had now!

My all time favourite car. Black QV with OTT wing please. Wouldn't like to own one though in a "never meet your heroes" kind of way.

Just spent my lunch break reading that story and can honestly say that one experience like that would make my life complete. Averaging those kinds of spedds and cruising past cops at silly mph with not a care in the world is sadly confined to the past now.
Found it intersting that he talks about crossing a continent in a series of Lambos as though he were doing it in an S Class. Makes you wonder if the Countach and its ilk really are that difficult to drive or whether they were made of sterner stuff back then.

I had the Athena poster of the white one on my wall for years, until my basement flat got flooded. I should really get round to buying a replacement.

Not keen on the anniversary, but love all of the others. Love the rear wing and even the front wing on the Cannonball car. One of my all time favorite films, must have watched it 20 or 30 times. My younger brother and I still occassionaly quote the outakes from the end of the film.

"If I had the time, I'd take those rosary bleads and shove em up your nose".

"These bleads?"

I don't think I'll ever be able to afford an original and am always uncertain about kit cars. I guess I'll have to hold on to the dream of a lottery win.

I had the long Athena poster, black Countach on grass across the wall of my bedroom. And 288GTO front end on. Love 'em both.
