Dear Boringbeige
The question was aimed at the guy who had his F40 featured.

I have no issue with the lack of evidence provided, I just hope the remarks about "qualifying laps" without numberplates are horses t. That type of If you crash into a child at speed in an F40, it doesn't matter if you have numberplates or not.

He probably 'owns' the police round his parts anyway, so he'd be fine.

Do Bird's (the custard co.) realise they have become the semi-official validator of supercar ownership? If so, they should add a PH logo to the tin or something Much preferred the can of Heinz myself, the colours sit very well on red. I don't see anything wrong with BB's posts. He came on, told us about his cars and how he used them and a few people wanted him to prove it or be immediately branded a liar. I think it's understandable if a chap can get a little testy with that approach. It's completely up to BB if he decides to entertain it. As for the other posts, they didn't seem like boasting, it seemed like a PHer connecting with fellow PHers through experience/ownership the same car. I fear people might be taking something innocent the wrong way. It only ever seems to happen with exotica is in the mix, strangely. Some people cherish their privacy and enjoy engaging to some degree with like-minded individuals online, some people are happy with all manner of info about them floating around on the net for strangers to digest. There's something hilarious about a grown man rushing over to his garage, putting a tin of custard on on his car and taking a picture so that complete strangers will believe what is in said garage. Try explaining this to someone not fully versed with all the PH unwritten rules Good on you BB if your garage is stocked with two fine F40s. Long may you enjoy them in good health.

They're awful pretty tho, I'd like one in dark blue with the deep chin spoiler. I have driven a couple of Mondials tho, they're from the same era as the 328 (or was it the 348?) , one was a qv and then later a t. I drove the t a fair bit. It wasn't mine and i had no money of my own so I was made up to be driving a ferrari, but even tho I was quite young I could tell it was a piece of s t. It still had that 'special' ferrari feel, but it didn't do anything particularly well. I should imagine that a 308 would be much the same. I guess the 'defeating feeling' is part of my point. A decent 308 gtb can be had for about 40k, the F40 is several hundred thousand more... Is it worth the premium? If I had half a million to blow, I'm not sure it would be on my list... Many millions is a different matter. That said, I've never driven one, so It's academic really.

Is there any truth behind the F40 prototype that was Enzo Ferrari’s personal car which had 200 more bhp and other upgrades? Would that car have similar upgrades to the Michelotto car featured in this article? Does anyone know what became of this prototype? I found this video but I’m at work so I can’t watch it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_6bPI0dTyk&fea...Also the F40 owners keep saying adjust/non-adjust about their car. Is this in relation to the adjustable carbon spoiler some cars have or is it something else? I love F40s. The only one I have seen is the one at the Museo Ferrari in Maranello. I spent ages walking round the car taking in all the details. I literally had to be dragged away by my bored girlfriend. You can keep your Enzos, 360s 612s etc, this is the only Ferrari I would own

It's the suspension, earlier cars came with non-adjustable suspension and (I think) later cars came with some kind of ECU controlled hydraulic adjustable suspension. I don't know any more than that but it seems that non-adjust cars are preferred.

Wow. My all time favourite supercar! Not sure I am sold on the wheels, much prefere the original deep dish ones but somehow, given the choice, I think I could get past them to have such a car Very impressive car. Lucky man.

The later cars came with the upgrade option of adjustable suspension which IMHO is a must for anyone driving in this country, especially in a city. It despatches speedhumps with ease and allows for a lower overall suspension setting at speed (there are 3 heights, normal, up and down) the ECU automatically drops the suspension once you exceed 50km/h (from memory) and then resets to normal level once you stop again, you can then press a button to jack up to high.

Last month's EVO suggested that parts are an issue for the adjustable model now, does that worry you?

On the topic of the earplugs and sound, I've got some music-orientated earplugs (I've never used them while driving) that just quieten everything without dulling the sound or muffling it - would be good for enjoying the revs while protecting hearing. If you do a lot of miles in a loud car it might be advisable to use something like these as it will have an effect eventually. I know my gf is fairly sensitive due to her tinnitus so for long journeys as a passenger she uses them. I'm always too worried that I'll not hear something critical and I want to be as aware of everything around me as possible when driving so I never use them but I imagine for doing a lot of track sessions and/or motorway miles it would be advisable.
