I've loved Jags ever since I was a nipper and enjoy nothing more than wafting along in gentleman's club luxury. However I can't help feeling that they continue to be let down by lack of attention to detail. Who, for example, thought that red-buttoned seat belt buckle was befitting of the otherwise superb interior? It looks like it came out of my Dad's late 80's mini Metro...
Having driven both the 3.0 SC and the 5.0 NA versions of these cars (working for JLR) I can say that I prefer the V6 to the V8 NA. It pulls stronger, feels quicker and responses really well. Yes it may not have that V8 growl but you soon forget about that. Especially when at the pumps!

P.s. F type is so so good in both V6 and V8 form!

Required for market approval I suspect, or at least for safety: they've featured on EVERY car I've ever known! Much as in the same way motorcycle lids feature red fixings/releases/latches: the emergency services know what bit will release the strap.R5PNY said:
For all those concerned about the demise of the V8 and its unique sound, fear not! I've been doing some work on site at JLR for a while (IT project) and I can catagorically confirm that the new V6 sounds epic. Every time the F-Type mule leaves Whitley and the engineer boots it the exhaust note is something to behold and savour. Jaguar will sell bucket loads of the F-Type just on how it sounds. Go to www.f-type.com and watch the PR launch from Goodwood FoS...If that doesn't make you go weak at the knees then nothing will.
Agree completely with this. It may not be a V8 but it still sounds fantastic and there's still a V8SC available. E38Ross said:

I test drove an XJ twice, but couldn't get on with the low speed ride, the uncomfortable seats and lack of head room. And I'm only 6'3". An S320 or even F10 520d is so much more comfortable for long hauls. As an overweight forty something middle exec doing 20k+ miles a year I feel unquestionably qualified to make this statement. Living very near Coventry I felt so gutted that they built the car around a smaller customer, however I suppose the Chinese and Indians rule the roost nowadays.

I've had a chance to examine a white/tan XJ and it was quite impressive. Great shape, beautiful interior, especially where the windshield meets the dash.
But the look of the front-end make it a non-starter for me. The shape and pattern of the grill is absolutely hideous. Looks like it comes from a '97 Kia. Just hideous, but in a cheap way. Totally ruins the look of the car, and I couldn't stand looking at it in my driveway.
