it's the little things that cost the money! my 2.1 zetec turbo powered, road legal example example has burst through it's bodywork somewhat, a little reshaping may be necessary but should be fun when it is completed and mapped later this month.
Maybe you should have bought the 999cc engine it might have just squeezed under the body work and you wouldn't have to fight so hard with the SVA man(or woman) smile
Actually, while the engine itself (ie. cylinder block and head) is tiny, the complete installation with turbos associated pipework (and intercooler) is rather bulky... certainly bulkier than the Zetec. See this Pistonheads article for photos that show how crowded the installation is in a Caterham, and the size of the bonnet bulge needed to clear it.

Just to make three posts in a row... does anyone know what other gear box may fit these?
It appears that the 1.0 litre EcoBoost is the same bellhousing bolt pattern as the Sigma (Zetec SE), so you could potentially use Caterham's bellhousing to couple it to a Ford or Caterham inline gearbox for front engine/RWD applications.

I reckon 5k is optimistic for that engine + install. But its a good idea! smile
Not really, you can buy the engine for sub £1k now...
Where from? A few searches and I can't even find a price for a 1.0 Ecoboost. Are there even any in breakers yet?
I'd like to know where you're buying your £1K EcoBoosts from as well, please!?

PowerTorque Engineering will sell you a new, crated engine. I won't quote prices, but I know they have been offering 'deals' on engines a lot cheaper than the £4.5K+VAT quoted in the Pistonheads article I linked above. The prices I've seen are still not as low as £1K, but they were fairly impressive, none the less.

Not really, you can buy the engine for sub £1k now, wiring loom £100.. after market management £500 a days mapping £350.. if you're a bit handy with the tools you just need to fabricate some mounts find out which gearbox mates up, personally I think you would have change from £5k smile
Where can you get that engine for £1k? That would be a bargain!

Good luck with making it work though!! You'll need at least another £1500 for the ecu
