It's a question of priorities - the 4.4 is faster and more powerful, the 3.0 is more economical with lower emissions. You pay your money and take you choice.
Of course with the 4.4 you can drive a current model car with the same engine and see what you think, not so easy with the 3.0 hence it's a bit more of a punt in the dark. (Unless the 3.0 is the same engine as you can already get in a Sport or Discovery in which case you could try one of them).
Thats what I am trying to fathom. The 3.0 in my Disco 4 is well quick enough in sport mode and the new RR is lighter. So why would I go for the bigger engine!!! I suppose I'm trying to work out the point of the 4.4 at all.Of course with the 4.4 you can drive a current model car with the same engine and see what you think, not so easy with the 3.0 hence it's a bit more of a punt in the dark. Is it possible I saw one on the Road yesterday ?
In White, on the A19 in North Yorkshire.
I'd imagine it's possible as I know they had at least one at CarFest North this weekend. Having seen it for myself in the flesh I've had a change of heart from my original gut reaction of "Don't like it" to "If I had the cash I'd have one". In White, on the A19 in North Yorkshire.

From a purely practical perspective they need a 4.4 because historically 3.0 is a small engine for a RR, their existing customer base in 3.6 and 4.4 TDV8s are going to wonder whether a 3.0 V6 is going to do the job, hence the need for a 4.4 option as well.Certainly if the 3.0 was the only option other than the Supercharged I wouldn't have ordered one, I'd be waiting for a test drive and even then would probably be unsure that I wanted to go from my current 4.4 to a 3.0.
We had the engine debate with the wife's sport. Don't know if the FFRR is the same but the V8 in the sport came with a load more kit than the V6. We did the sums and (aside from fuel) it was a saving
to buy the V8. We've had it mapped and it is lovely to drive, masses of torques :-) Believe the later unit is even better!

No more kit in reality to buy the V8. We've had it mapped and it is lovely to drive, masses of torques :-) Believe the later unit is even better!
From the look of it on their website, you don't lose out on kit if you go for the V6, I think you still get Dynamic Response and Auto Terrain Response if you spec the Vogue SE?.
I think I would rather go for a Vogue SE V6 over a Vogue V8 as they seem to be the same price within a couple of hundered Pounds.
Sadly I will have to wait until they are about 3 years old to be able to afford one .

Who cares what the monocoque weighs. Thats a very decieving way of stating how light/heavy it is!
The actual weight of the car is 2160kg, the previous model was 2557kg.
The F30 3 series weighs 1490kg.
The Countryman weighs 1340kg.
In otherwords, it still weighs loads.
Considering my FL2 kerb weight is 1850, I'd say that's pretty impressive given the size of it.......The actual weight of the car is 2160kg, the previous model was 2557kg.

a top of the range X5 comes in at 2190 too....

It also doesn't really cover the fact that manufacturers quoted kerb weights are often the greatest work of fiction since the Bible was writen............... (if you don't believe me, go weigh your D4, RRS, or FFRR and see how you get on ;-)The actual weight of the car is 2160kg, the previous model was 2557kg.

This site used to be for real car enthusiasts who could appreciate great new cars and discuss them in an adult way. Now it seems to be being taken over by wannabees who use chavspeak and stupid insults to talk about cars they will never buy.
I think it's simpler than that. This site has filled up with debt monkeys who think it is someone else's fault that they've fked up and find target groups to blame. A recession always brings them out in force as the reality of their foolhardy lifestyles and choices need to find others to blame.
Anyone who 'hates' is by definition one of life's losers. The problem is that they just used to be found at the end of the pub bar at 5.01pm but thanks to the Internet they can whitter their drivel all over the shop.
