Worst car I have ever driven....
Discussion
I got given an N reg 1.2 Corsa for my 21st birthday (this was 17 years ago) and whilst I was over the moon to receive a car as a present, it very quickly dawned on me what a festering pile of ste it was.
Over 18 seconds to 60 and it felt every one of them and more. i ended up trading it in against a MK2 Golf GTI and never looked back.
My parents weren't overly chuffed, but i did have it over a year.
That experience put me off Vauxhall's for life - just such overwhelmingly underwhelming cars.
That said I did drive a VX220 and that wasn't half bad, although at 6'3 having to put my hand on the floor to get out wasn't the best :-)

Finally we get to the main Achilles heel. The 1.2l engine. Never has there been a more weak and pathetic engine. I got passed by an iceberg and I simply could not keep up. I had an S reg cinquecento from this same company a few years back and it had far more oomph.
My wife had one of these as a hire car once and it just about managed to outpace a fully laden 1993 ex-BT Transit. It's the only car I've driven where I could redline it through the gears down a particular slip-road onto the A3 and still be driving at a legal speed. It really was glacially slow.
Old thread, but fair enough. I had a 1.2 Corsa as a courtesy car not too long ago. Thought it was diesel at first, but seeing as it was given to me with the fuel on fumes I decided to stick the bare minimum in it to get me around.
One it's wound up it's not too bad, but it needed to be pushed to crack the magic hire car speeds
The one I had came with heated seats, felt like I'd st myself. The heated steering wheel was OK though

The 1.2 Corsa is very slow, but I was once given a 1.2 Polo, which struggled to get up hills. Worst hire car ever was a 1.6 Golf auto I had about 10 years ago, thought I'd left the handbrake on it was so slow to pull away. Stopped to check for binding brakes etc but looked ok, it was just very slow due to the weight, engine and 'box combination.

The worst car I've ever driven honour goes to a mk2 Ford Fiesta Popular Plus 950cc. It was quite old at the time but it pretty much wouldn't go, wouldn't stop, horribly noisy and woeful gearbox. I can't see that a modern car like a 2012 Corsa wouldn't have improved on that!
This was my first ever car :-) I could actually get it upto 50 on the A19 at a push, but I agree the brakes (or lack of them) were darn right scary. Still fond memorys of it and crashing it into a roundabout. I steered and the car just didn't. Ah fun days, when you could loose it in a car at insanely low speeds without the need for snow (these days its impossible).I had a 2012 Astra 1.6 Automatic as a hire car once, by far and away, it is the most horrible car I have ever stepped foot in, I had it for 2 weeks and by the end of it, I think that car was starting to cause depression, it was so depressing in every way, each time I see one on the road, I just can't help but feel sorry for the person behind the wheel. The acceleration was painstakingly slow, I mean, overtaking was not something to be taken lightly, it had to be a heavily srategized plan with key timing.

Used to work for a car hire company so driven some awful cars in my time. Ones that come to mind are...
Not trying to have a dig but I'm trying to work out how you came upon a 2 year old thread for your first post on Pistonheads? Genuinely curious...I like the way some members on here just pick up the conversation without noticing the dates at all.

Corsa 1.2 is definitely one of the worst cars I have ever driven - shockingly bad for a modern car - and I have no grudge against Vauxhall. One can only wonder as to what the "target market" may be.
I think it's people who don't want to spend as little as possible on a new car, have no interest in cars or driving and don't test drive anything else. Matt UK said:

My father in law had one as his driving school car, I had a few informal lessons in it after I finished uni as I hadn't driven anything for 3 years. Slow, cheap nasty interior, and the pedals were so close I had to drive it in bare feet. Literally couldn't brake without revving the nuts off it of pressing the clutch. And I've since driven Caterhams and had no issues at all...
Honorable mention goes to my mother in laws 2013 Mini. Yes it looks ok, and is nice and solid inside, but the ride is absolutely woeful. You feel every single lump bump and ripple in the road. How that can be acceptable in this day and age I don't know. I get the impression that my wife's step dad noticed it on the test drive, but the salesman fobbed them off with some spiel about it being brand new and it would loosen up, and MiL liked it regardless because of the way it looked. What really annoys me is that MiL has bone cancer and she ends up in agony after more than a 30 min journey, but she won't change it!

Possibly not the worst ever, but certainly the worst I've driven for a while - a new Astra 1.4 SRI. Quite comfortable, but ridiculously vague light steering, absolutely no power and quite simply an unpleasant vehicle to do anything but sit in. The most enjoyable part of it was either eating a tuna melt panini whilst sitting in it, or giving the keys back.
