Worst car I have ever driven....

Ahh, the old 1.7 Isuzu. The first two cars I learnt in had that god awful power plant. The first had 250k on the clock, but was a triggers broom affair, with the second being the backup for the first.
The Corsa C was an absolute dog, engine aside, awful in every way bar one. I was involved in a serious collision whilst I was learning, with a green rover something-or-other. Diabetic on a NSL road, nothing to eat, black out, bang.
The car bounced a good 100 degrees around, which saved the two of us from too much damage, but it was still a spinal board job for all involved
Airbag burnt the sleeves on my favourite jumper as well.
I have an Astra G with this engine. Have to pile the revs high to pull away at speed. Only thing I dislike about the engine. Otherwise it just goes and goes. Why does everyone hate it so much. The Corsa C is good for crashing, yes. I have found that it also is quite prone to lift-off oversteer. The best thing about it is that it makes you appreciate how good actual cars are!

Weird about the lack of window auto open/close - my Corsa C (that I was forced into, it's a car I guess) has that feature.
They might of been on there but not programmed. Haven't you got to hold the button down for a few seconds or something after they have fully closed?rupert the dog said:
Fiat Panda hire car in Greece. I'm quite a Fiat fan, but this thing seemed to have a motor out of a blender - no power and lots of noise.
I had one of these in Fuerteventura, which is a pretty mountainous place, so it really amplified the lack of anything resembling power. It sounded absolutely awful at the top end as well.durbster said:
I don't understand how any manufacturer can get something like the seats wrong. Surely, at some stage in Vauxhall's 100 year history, they would have found some seats which are comfy and cheap enough to make, so why wouldn't they use them from that point on?
Same goes for gearboxes.
Maybe all the designers have huge arses and need something they can spread out onSame goes for gearboxes.
I prefer bucket type seats, but the old Corsa I owned was a bit flat in seat dept
I had a 1.2 Corsa as a hire car recently. Delivered by Hertz with a mere 6000 miles on the clock. OK around town up to 30 mph but I was taking it on a 350 mile round trip through the highlands of Scotland.
The lack of oomph really frustrated. On the open road I had to cane it to make progress and overtaking anything required suspension of any form of mechanical sympathy whatsoever. I actually had a look through the handbook to find out how much power it was producing (85bhp). I think the long gearing was partly to blame. The weight of modern cars certainly doesn't help.
I found the seats and driving position fine although I would have liked some more lateral support.
Handling was fine and the steering quick if lacking in feel. I liked the adjustable steering column.
Like the OP I found the dials difficult to read and the indicators would drive me nuts if it was my own car.
Overall not the worst car I have driven but I have driven plenty of other low powered cars that felt quicker and were more fun. I remember driving my sisters 1999 Fiesta 1.25 zetec and that car was fantastic fun to drive and certainly didn't feel underpowered.

I find that difficult to believe. My own experience of Fiat Panda is it's a great little car. If you didn't like Panda I suggest you keep at least 500 yards away from Corsa!!J4CKO said:
Ooh you poor little lamb.
MTFU !
Its a modern car, it starts, goes, stops, is safe, has a working heater, it doesn't gas you and everything works, it just isn't very exciting or engaging, you cant have driven many cars if that is the worst !
You try driving 400 miles in a car with concrete seats with a bad back. Poor little lamb indeed...MTFU !

Also not everything worked. Passenger side rearview mirror didn't work properly (broken).
The point of this thread is that for a modern car that costs 15k basic it is absolutely dire and simply worth nowhere near that much.
For the same money you can have a 1.4 fiesta with more power and stloads more options between 1 and 2k cheaper.
A Corsa and Honda Jazz are the worst for me, and both were rentals or loan cars.
I was surprised the Honda Jazz was so bad, as when you read some magazines it gets good reviews,
so maybe it is only purchased by people over 60 that never drive over 30mph.
My main issue with the Honda is it was very noisy and handled like a boat.
The Corsa was just very slow with not enough power to overtake anything.

Indeed, might not be the best in the world for performance, but utterly bulletproof engines!Birdster said:

I had a 92 Cavalier L with the 1.7D Isuzu engine. All 60BHP of was fking dreadful, but, it was absolutely bullet proof, and did a trouble free 180K miles.
The only thing that stopped it going further was some little scrote nicked it and burnt it out.

Get the right one, and they aren't all that bad. Our daily hack is a 5dr corsa SXI 1.3 cdti. Its got 100hp 6 gears cruise control and climate control, oh and has auto close windows. it also has the better suspension/seats etc.
Boggo 1.2's are ste, i have driven one and it would put me off a corsa for life. I had the privilege of driving a 2012 plate 1.2 agila. Which in all honesty was the worst car i have driven.
