Have you seen the two cars next to each other by any chance?

Might be a slight hint of the focus from the rear quarter but thats it and open the door they couldnt be further apart.

Remove all branding from the cars, and I doubt that many would know which were a Volvo and which were a Focus from any angle bar the front end grill shape ... even then, the viewer would need to be familiar with the new styling directions that the companies were taking.

I think many people think it's BMW who have lost their way with extraordinarily ugly cars in their main range and the MINI range. I wouldn't be surprised at peole looking to alternatives though suspect Mercedes may be the more likely benefactor.

Agreed, although MB aren't in a particularly rosy patch aesthetically, C class excepted...shame Saab aren't around as I think the 'thinking' car buying public would really appreciate a good alternative.
Volvo for me are on the brink, of coutrse they will NEVER shake their 'safe', solid or even boxy image...but with their Swedish design influence, interiors, all they need is to bring out a bigger model and a halo and they'll be right there..

In stance and proportion yes!!!!!!!!!

but not quite so much in the detail and surface treatment!!!!!!!!!!!

The Volvo is the better looking car IMO especially 'in the metal' !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
