As Lu51fer might say,

"You can't polish a turd."
But you can roll it in glitter. MINI must have a lot of glitter in their factories.

I already don't understand the BMW range with all the silly pointless niche models (5 GT, X1, X3, gran coupe etc) and now I don't understand the mini lineup either. What's next a convertible paceman? then a 7 seat roadster and an electric offroad version of the clubvan?
Agreed. The X1 and 5 GT really baffle me. I viewed a 5 GT thinking it might be a perfect next car. Unfortunately all it did was confirm I need a Volvo V70 or Merc E-Class estate.

If people want them, BMW will build them. The Countryman and Paceman slot in just underneath the X1 in the lineup (the most expensive Countryman is £1000 cheaper than the cheapest X1) so you have a nice big range all the way from slightly too expensive city cars right up to slightly too expensive executive cars.

You can polish a turd. It's been done. It ends up being a shiny turd

There must be more MINI haters on the PHs than any other forum in the world.
  • Original Mini was fine.
  • BMW Mini was fine.
Sticking a "Mini" badge on the subsequent clumping tat is inexcuseable.

Next thing you know some idiot will stick an Aston Martin badge on a tarted up Toyota....

As I said in that other thread, I wish they'd changed the front too and made it less brutish and svelte like the rear. Missed opportunity to avoid building another abomination.

Actually I'm being unfair. It's not too bad really. There are worse things in life, like a kick to the nuts or a bird poo in the eye.

So the BMW Mini is a Large version of the original BMW Mini (Albeit styled as a 3door Hatch)

And this "The Paceman..." is a Larger version of the Original Mini (again styled as a 3 door hatch)

Ohhh Right! I see now. yeah that's really clever BMW!

I suspect more likely a joke rather than an error. Paceman/Pacemaker... 600bhp - scary heart attack?

I am an avid mini countryman hater but this looks visually pretty good in my eyes.

I think the back end does a far better job of not looking like its been sat on by a huge elephant (ala Evoque)

The front could be better to match the rest of the car. Something like the headlights on the Clubman concept versions would be ok.
