Most of the 'interesting' regs mentioned are nothing more than misrepresentations.
And nothing used to please me more than doing the knobheads who's car they were in
And having the plate removed (we all know you never 'own' the plate, you just pay for the rights to display it).
Same car done twice for misrepresenting the reg = reg can be removed by DVLA.
Laugh now, rich boy!
Are you a police officer? Do you know of any cases where the DVLA has removed the right to show the plate? And nothing used to please me more than doing the knobheads who's car they were in

every week i see L1 on a Maybach always parked outside St Pancras station.
also theres a merc that picks up the posh boys from the bank across the road from us with reg 1M on it.
my fave of all time has to be a green 306 SW with wheel trims and the plate N5 on it,
Paul Daniels was selling MAG1C a while back which was actually on an Iveco Bighorn....lol

I suppose for some it is just a trinket, a million quid isnt that much money to some people, especially as traditionally these things are usually decent investments, that said, a million quid seems a bit steep.
Funny things plates, you could signwrite any car legally with whatever you want as long as it wasnt in some way indecent for very little cost to tell others your name, something about your car or how much you approve of oral sex but people choose to contrive the mandatory car identification plate to pass on the messages, usually lost on most people, I think it must be down to working round the limitations and displaying a symbol of wealth that can easily be seen, would love to know what a psychologist makes of it. not saying it is right or wrong, just interested as to the underlying motivations.
I think it's a type of 'signalling'. Almost a Peacock type thing. (some types of) People like to demonstrate to others how wealthy they are (or appear wealthy/waelthier). Seems to happen at all income/leves of society, from having the right brand clothes, trainers, cars, to having the right size house in the right location and then having the right cars on the drive, etc etc etc.Funny things plates, you could signwrite any car legally with whatever you want as long as it wasnt in some way indecent for very little cost to tell others your name, something about your car or how much you approve of oral sex but people choose to contrive the mandatory car identification plate to pass on the messages, usually lost on most people, I think it must be down to working round the limitations and displaying a symbol of wealth that can easily be seen, would love to know what a psychologist makes of it. not saying it is right or wrong, just interested as to the underlying motivations.
There was a good quote on here ages ago that I won't take credit for but was along the lines of "people buy things they don't want/need with money they don't have to impress people they don't like/know".

Of course it will never sell for £1m- the seller knows this! But advertising it for a million quid probably gets him all sorts of press coverage, "The Million Pound Plate" bla bla bla which is just a load of free advertising for his wares! And then when he sells it for £150k, or £50k, or whatever, he's laughing. And someone else gets to drive around with what is undeniably a very cool number plate!

1 - is not a UK reg plate.
The plate you've put down isn't even a UK reg plate. The plate was K1 NGS which sold for about £235K
- Edit, just beaten to it!
Weird, I saw "1" on a red Rolls Phantom on Great Portland St. on Sat.The plate you've put down isn't even a UK reg plate. The plate was K1 NGS which sold for about £235K

X1, F1, all a bit boring. Plates need to be more fun, or relevant. Saw LAM80 on an old Urraco once, D14BLO used to be on a Diablo then on a Murcielago that lives near me, saw a DBS with A5TON on it in central London, and MAR10 on a Merc outside a restaurant called Mario's in the west end!
