Surely our resident F1 owner has sat in one by now? Come on Mr, we're all waiting to hear from you biggrin

Email me if you like, I don't really give NDAs much weight...

I like the back, especially how the haunches rise up... the front is a it 50/50... but the side looks odd - the glass house is too tall and too far forwards. Not exactly a pleasing look.

As others have said, seems to be a bit blingy, but until we see the final car and understand if there's a "form follows function" reason for the odd look, possibly a bit too early to draw conclusions.

Interesting that the article says it'll be a design study that's shown next week, suggests this isn't the final look.
A Zonda has a very forward and high glasshouse for functional reasons. In fact a few more cars have this as well. I'm sure there is a good reason, such as an enormous powertrain biggrin

You can see the reason if you look at the rear. This thing's an aero masterclass, it even has a beam wing/double diffuser by the looks of it, and you could open a Starbucks in the venturi tunnels.

Large Cabin...... room for three?
Indeed, from the side it looks either like quite a large cabin, or a small car with a short wheel base.

ETA: I wonder if that front intake, below the number-plate is for the venturi. This is supposed too have active aero, maybe a spoiler is deployed at speed?

...and yet, I'd rather have an F1 given the choice... rolleyes
Is that purely based on the car though, or on the heritage and the legend that it's built up? I must admit I find this a little brash compared to the F1, but I'm very open to having that opinion changed by a few good road tests and some more information.

I really like the rear of this car. The super slim lights make for an uncluttered and simple design that is also very aggressive.
I think it will suit blue, black, grey and white more than other colours. The orange doesn't work in my opinion.
Not sure on the black side sections, again this look is very colour dependant. It might grow on me though.
The front lights are interesting in the way they mimic the McLaren logo. It is a shame they couldn't use the same technology as the rear lights.
Also there are a lot of F1 road car influences that definitely make it a McLaren.

Am I the only person that thinks the front looks like an Elise gone wrong?

Anyone else think the side profile is just crying out for it to become a GT3 racer? The shape would suit an outlandish wing on some expensive scaffolding.

Something like this.

Sorry for rough image but I only had a couple of mins to do it.

The daft wing rather improves the side profile, actually.

sensational looking, and I am sure it will drive commensurately..but, being a retro chap, I would rather have the early 90s original F1..

I really like this smile

However, with the combined downforce of the huge rear diffuser and that rear wing, I fear it would push it's self through the road biggrin

What a hideously ugly car the Pi is......

I suppose it'll appeal to those with considerably more money than sense, but it looks a total dog's breakfast to me.....

F1 was much, much better looking.

The back is absolutely stunning, but nose does not do it for me. That said, given McLaren's stated aim for the car, there is no doubt a significant degree of form following function.

Doesn't work at all for me either as a design or a concept. Utterly irrelevant in todays world IMO.
