I don't like these aluminium cars, in a really big crash they tend to tear without absorbing much energy. Try it with an empty coke can, give it a karate chop then start the tear at the fold. It is amazing how little effort it takes to continue the tearing.

I asked the boss of a Jaguar body shop if he would rather have a crash in an X308 or an X350. He said the X308 every time because of this tearing problem.
You can almost tear anything when it's that thin.

A brand new E-Type was half the price of the contemporary Aston.

Yeah well... That was why the E-Type was very popular ... And the Jag /Aston comparison isn't affected by inflation you know!!

Can't please every one eh. Otherwise we'd all be driving the same car/brand. Would that grab handle be a deal breaker if it was a back road hero. And why intrusive?

Quite useful for those passenger scaring "watch this" moments, but is the Jag capable of them?

Interior lovely I think... Maybe a bit astony centre console though

No he didnt, and no you didnt. You may be interested to know that JLR employ people in their crashworthyness department (and employ third parties sich as MIRA) to test for these things. In fact, they probably employ more then your entire year 10 maths class. Why not have a look at their NCAP ratings? or, ask a teacher if you need help

Perosnally I think Ian Callum needs more recognition. With his creations he has done many things to make the world a more beautiful place. This, the XJ, the DB7. If he was French they would have named a park after him by now. Italian, he would be beatified.

Well, perhaps they invented the word calumny after him, for the slings and arrows he has to endure on PH.

Steady on chap. We don't want to get all hysterical like our little European chums. biggrin

I'm sure that an almost imperceptable nod of the head will suffice, as always.
