What WERE we on in those days? hippy
haha, but at least that was more interesting than most cars today with black-black, black-grey, black-cream interiors!

I remember being in a toyota bluebird with full blue interior, and a cortina with a full brown-brownish/cream interior when I was little.

Perhaps it was influence from 70's american interiors.

I had a Senator B 24v and always wished for the 12v version (Two 24v's and one 12v in the family and the 12v was more comfy and more reliable).

That being said £999 for a Senator A with the less than desired 2.5...Nah, but thanks for the thought.

Fashions change. In five to ten years time you won't be able to shift a dull, grey car from The Fatherland. Everybody will be lusting after the next big brightly coloured thing from Korea/Japan/France/UK...

I've got to agree with a lot of the comments above - 2.5 mill the wrong one to have, and the price is too high. There are a few Monza's knocking about for that money (ish) and they have the 3.0 mill. It would have to be a 3.0 'B' for me in either a Senator or Monza.
Find me an Opel Commodore (or whatever the Vauxhall equivalent was)... they float my boat (or is it 'barge'?). ;-)

Dad had a 2.8 Royale in silver from 1980 to 1985. I have great memories of taking mates out in it in 1984 when I was nineteen.Lovely quiet car,and better looking than the Senator.

It seems a bit expensive, I still want it though.

Oh dear, looks like the kind of car an American serial killer would drive.

Not a good look.

My old man had a Monza in white.

Was just the E version (not GSE). Bloody lovely car, sounded nice and so comfy. This replaced a Gold Granada 2.8 Ghia smile

I lost my old man a few years ago but never did congratulate him on his choice of cars over the years. The Monza was replacement with a new E30 325i 3 door.

Dad had a 1990 12v CD with digital dash. Best car he's ever owned IMO to this day, totally massive boot for holidays and flew past most things on the road smile.

I've always wanted one but hardly any Senator's exist today frown.

Since the days of the Granada or Senator there hasn't been another 'blue collar' car.

Huge amounts of want. Not at that price but still, huge amounts of want. It's magnificent. Look at it. Stately, refined and beautifully understated; a masterpiece of automotive design. Also, I do love velour.

Like a politician with a senatorial pipe, it's a dilly-dally-o, a pedagogue squinting wearing a frown as a satyr peers under a lady's gown.

Never was keen on these inflated Cavaliers or Carltons. They were obscure even at the time.

Why is it so overpriced? It looks to be in pretty good condition. Buy a £500 wreck and then see what overpriced means.

£1000 doesn't buy much paintwork these days.

Oh dear, no.
Reminds me of a big fat girlfriend I once had...I remember her dad had one and coulden't afford the £20 for a new front tyre it needed. She lived on a council estate in Luton.

Another example of a 'forgotten' car. I own a 1987 VW Passat GL5 estate, apparently there are only 57 of these left on the road in the UK.

I couldn't even find another one at a huge VW show 2 weeks ago and most people didn't have a clue what it was!
My old man used to have one of these back in the late 80s, early 90s. Really good car, massive boot space. C538 TGM, where are you now....?

I'm sure we've had a Senator/Roayle before in Shed of the week?

To be fair, in the 8 or so years we have been doing SOTW most of the choice sheds have been covered numerous times.

I'd rather have the car my mate sold earlier this year for a lot less than this. A fairly tidy, mechanically sound 1993 Senator B 24v CD auto with 130k on the clock, part service history, and long MOT. Everything worked, even the air-con, and the 80's-tastic digi-dash. Full leather and fake wood interior and electric everything.

I went in it a couple of weeks before he sold it. Hauled up to 100 mph surprisingly quickly, and a prod of the throttle would lift the nose markedly even at this speed. They were so good, it was rumoured that Plod stockpiled them at the end of the production run.

He advertised it at £750 and got £675!

Wasn't moaning, I have great memories of these!
