'GT 86 is reliable' shock

Toyota coupe runs flawlessly in the Britcar 24Hrs

If you're thinking of investing in a Toyota GT 86, you'll be pleased to know that Toyota's reliability gene has been passed on to the £25k coupe. It ran faultlessly for 512 laps and 1874 miles in last weekend's Britcar 24 Hours at Silverstone despite "having its wheels driven off" by the four-driver team of Chris Hodgetts, Stefan Hodgetts, Travis drummer Neil Primrose and EVO's Richard Meaden.

Gary Blackham of GPRM, who prepared the car, pronounced himself delighted with the car's placing of eighth overall and third in class. "Considering the differential in horsepower between our car and the others, it's a great result. I think the only work we had to do was add about half a litre of oil during the whole race."

We've just taken delivery of one! Great little car. Its done about 350 miles so far.

These miles have mainly been covered in our carpark doing donuts laugh

Pretty sure it is, Griff!

Nice little cars though, I look forward to them depreciating as I head towards the insurance drop-off cliff...

Just proves what we already knew tbh. Its not exactly the most highly strung engine, and its a Toyota. smile

My mother mentioned buying one of these yesterday, I almost fell off my chair.

I heard the team had a good battle with the FD2 Civic Type R run by TGM Sport.

Eighth overall strikes me as an amazing result.

Equally impressive is that I see from the results sheet that the GT86's best lap time of 2.29.8 is only 2 seconds slower than the best time of the E46 M3 that finished 7th.... yikes

Given the length and nature of the circuit that seems incredible.

"some bloke off a car magazine"? Classy.

Edit: I see this has been corrected.

Both GT86' looked great going around Silverstone, even went to go look at one yesterday and booking a test drive for the cmoing week too.

Didn't catch it at the finish as we left because of the rain. Driving back to Aberdeen from Silverstone in an S1 elise in torrential rain is not fun hehe

Lovely honest cars.

My friend Richard Meaden was the bloke from a car magazine.

Great result for him, the others and Toyota.

Equally feel we should congratulate the Mission Motorsport chaps in the 370Z: cracking performance.
