His bruising is going down quicker than I expected (much to his disappointment!) But the police have been brilliant and given us window alarms and car lock etc.
Still no word on the car, although apparently they've stopped a few S4s just to check.

That's good that they're doing that.

There aren't many in manchester. Only seen 1 other in the 2 years we've had the car!

Bunch of s! I hope he's ok.

Unfortunately these stories seem far more common-place since they've increased car security. I now leave my car keys right by the front door, so they're nice and easy to find should someone want to steal it. I'd rather them take my car than them attacking me or my family.

It almost puts you off owning a nice car, unless you can hide it somewhere.
My cars don't live on my driveway, ever. Separate secure parking, away from the property.

Lois - so sorry to hear: hope you both are as well as can be expected. I hope they catch these scumbags, or they encounter someone armed when trying this, one day.

I'm not sure exactly where he lives - somewhere in N Manchester - but a business acquaintance got rid of his S4 a couple of years ago after having it taken off him in a car park for the second time. He just didn't think it was worth the risk.

Urgh it gets worse, the police are pretty convinced the 3 guys were the same who burgled us last week and it appears they've taken my bank details. Arghhhhh

I own a shotgun, and the cars have gps trackers installed. Doesn't stop them from getting me outside, but if they set foot into my house, they won't get out alive
You'd better hope your firearms officer never hears or reads you saying anything like that or you wont have a shotgun anymore!

Sorry to hear the bad news.

I've got an S6 and have been pretty blase about it, keeping the engine running whilst I close the gates to the driveway etc. I'll be more security conscious now.

I'm also live in Manchester. Which part are you in?

yep the judge said it was perfectly legitimate and righteous for the owner to shoot the burglars

Sorry to hear its been a double blow for you, I guess the break in was a failed search for the keys?

Absolutely awful news. A neighbour of mine had his pride and joy taken from him by way of a fk off machete being waved at his wife, shook them up horrendously. All the best to your husband, I hope he recovers quickly and the scrotes borrowing your bank details doesn't cause too much ball ache.

Strictly speaking, no. The couple were arrested (suspicion of GBH at the time, changed to attempted murder) but not charged, and won't be charged. They've already left for Australia - sold, given away or chucked everything they owned and gone.

that sucks, sorry to hear!

there are ups and downs to living in the states. I hope I never have to use my HK45 outside of the range but if it comes down to protecting my family, visitors will be introduced.
