Strictly speaking, no. The couple were arrested (suspicion of GBH at the time, changed to attempted murder) but not charged, and won't be charged. They've already left for Australia - sold, given away or chucked everything they owned and gone.
its a difficult subject. I'm all for shooting thieves and those breaking into your home but how do you police that? How many people will be shot or killed in otherwise trivial disputes but reported to the police as as breaking/broken in?

The only good thing about them taking your bank details and abusing them is that it makes them easier to track.

You'd better hope your firearms officer never hears or reads you saying anything like that or you wont have a shotgun anymore!

Didn't someone get cleared this week of shooting 2 burglars?
yep the judge said it was perfectly legitimate and righteous for the owner to shoot the burglars

The fact is, if your firearms officer gets any hint of you saying things like: "if they set foot into my house, they won't get out alive" You will have your certificate removed. I have had a shotgun certificate for over 10 years and I have respect for what that means - trying to be Bertie big bks about it is moronic.

Absolutely awful news. A neighbour of mine had his pride and joy taken from him by way of a fk off machete being waved at his wife, shook them up horrendously. All the best to your husband, I hope he recovers quickly and the scrotes borrowing your bank details doesn't cause too much ball ache.
If someone waved a machete at my wife like that, I'd just let them take it. But I'd tell them to do me a favour and make sure its never recovered - after they've abused it for hours it'd be in a condition that i'd never want to be in it again. I'd rather just never see it again, get the insurance money and buy a new one - the old one was starting to look a bit soft anyway.

I'd say the same applies to the car if they took that too.

This type of thing is by no means unique to the UK.

The story about the couple fleeing to Australia for fear of reprisals is somewhat ironic.

I'm also live in Manchester. Which part are you in?
We're south Manchester, although we've just been to look at a new development near Worsley.

The whole of our fence is now topped with barbed wire.

Absolute scumbags. Don't let this put you off running a nice car.
Don't let these lowlifes get the better of you both.

The shame is if they catch these thieving bds they will probably end up with a slap on the wrist.
The law seems to favour these scumbags with their deprived upbringing.

The bad news is it's not great around there either although this is a bit old and was when plod were having a blitz to stop car theft in South Manchester, so all the scumbags moved to North Manchester for their "income".

I had the following comment about 7 years ago when I kept having hassle over a red S4 I owned back in 2005:

PC "Why not put it in your double garage?"

Me: "Because my (ex) wife's Type-R is in there along with 3 motorbikes"

PC: "Oh, well the only thing to do is buy a crappier car then."

And he was being serious.

CCTV was fitted soon after, but the advantage was one of the top Salford family men moving onto our estate. He came round, introduced himself, apologised that this happened and explained it wouldn't be happening again to anyone living nearby.

He's been true to his word and a very friendly guy, although I admit to finding every excuse under the sun not to engage in too much conversation with him, just in case I say the wrong thing. paperbag

Hi Lois, hope your husband is recovering well. Any news on the car?

Just a thought... you mention "3 of them" in earlier posts... has your husband watched this?

I think there's 4 in that video and if they were going to take the car I wish they'd done it that way!!

We've just been to speak to some of our neighbours to set up a home watch scheme, but I was amazed how many people didn't have their door locked or left windows open. We're turning into Fort Knox!!

No worries! I accidentally poked him in his sore nose today trying to get toothpaste off it!

Had a call from the police, it's been found but doesn't sound like they caught the bds. Waiting for more information.

Scary that that you needed the local hardman to move in next door to stop this.
