Forget the 'slovenly' 0-60 time, with smaller wheels, none of the cosmetic bks and debadged this would be perfect for a fast run down to Munich- for me. I find running out of puff at 150mph an awful bind. smile

What I dont get is......why start with a super duper rare 1M?
If you don't "get" why then this car then is evidently not for you. A BMW M1 is super duper rare. A Ferrari 250 GTO is super duper rare. A Koenigsegg Agera R is super duper rare. A BMW 1M is not.

Basically, what they have done, is deprive some one of having one in the future.

With the amount of work that's gone in to that hardly anything of the 1m will really remain. So why not start with a 118i instead and leave the 1M's to people who want them?
Originally BMW planned on only making 2,700 but then after receiving a favourable response lifted the production cap deciding that they would sell as many as people wanted to buy. In other words, everyone who wanted to buy one has already done so.

Following your logic people shouldn't be allowed to modify their own property?

Initially impressed by the title, but subsequently deflated by the stats. Have to say the brown looks well though.....

It is not a 1M to begin with, the mirrors are not 1M but from a 1 series coupe, the button cluster under the stereo headunit is not found in the 1M, the auto gearbox, the rooflining , the speedo housing cover is not alcantara but the standard 1 coupe and even the rear headrests are from the 'normal' 1 series coupe which is different to the 1M. Donor car is not a 1M but more possibly a DCT 135i.

As for the numbers of 1M's made, many countries had a cap like the UK, 450, US, 740 and so on.

Contrary to previous posts, I think this IS a sleeper - relative to other 1Ms.

Surely a reworked N54B30 that's already in there could have hit 600hp easy enough?

do you need a base 1m or you can get a 118 chassis and let them do the conversion to panels and engne and mechs...

Only? 600bhp through the rear wheels only in a car thats not designed for it, seems pretty quick to me.

Dont know why people get so hung up on 0-60times means very little in the real world

Hi Jonny,

Autocar timed their 1M at 16.6 seconds to 120 and 20.5 seconds to 130 so seeing as there was no gearchange in-between, I reckon it would be about 18.5ish with 2 people and a full tank

The standard 360hp engine makes way for a 4.0-litre M3 V8 unit that's been supercharged to produce 600hp at 7,800rpm and 354lb ft at 3,900rpm.
So torque is worse than standard car ( 369 lb/ft at 1500-4500rpm )?

Probably, but a V8 is an upgrade over a 6, no? (biggrin)

From what others have said the car in the pics wasnt a 1M to start off in life with so must be able to fit it into anything from the 1 series range in theory!

Probably the limit with the RWD and short wheel base chassis.
Short wheelbase means more load transfer to the rear and actually helps with acceleration.
So if it had a longer wheelbase it would be even slower to 100km/h.

No doubt the limiting factor here would be the tyres, with that much power it could probably spin them in 3rd.

The original version could probably spin them in 1st, so if you already cant put the power down what would extra power do? nothing as proven in this case.
