This could be the car I've been waiting for.

Do we know how much it weighs?

Around 1600kg upwards, apparently.

but despite the years of marketing spin and engineering finesse you can't avoid the fact that it still has too much weight at the back.
And despite the number of races it has won over an incredibly long period? The results speak for themselves, the 911 design isn't flawed, it is just different.

Yer man doing the F-Type reveal in Paris reckons they 'obsessively optimised' front-to-rear balance.

I love this. The first mass-produced British car in years (with the possible exception of the Morgan Aero 8) that carries the spirit of TVR. Big curvy V8 roadster with RWD. I hope the traction control has an 'off' setting.

Nice to see a rally-style push-pull sequential manual gearbox with the lever in the 'proper' place too.

The only drawback is the price. I was hoping the base model variant would be about £10k cheaper than that. Still, it's going to sell like crazy all over the world, I reckon.

Try to treat that little plastic joystick like a proper sequential shift mechanism and I suspect it'll fall off within a few miles. hehe

"Singer songwriter, Lana Del Rey will collaborate with Jaguar on the launch of the all-new F-TYPE, a two-seater sports car that is a vivid representation of the vitality of the Jaguar brand".

Well that tells you all you need to know about their target market.

What's the competition for this car given the price?

Very excited for JLR. It's lovely to see them back in the game and producing world leading cars once again. Love the F-Type, although it would be the coupe for me and I'm really excited about the new FFRR.

Any German 2 seater convertible I would think.

I don't think it has any for me. If it goes as well as I expect it to, I'd be into one like a shot if the pennies were in line.

I hope the panel gaps (internal and external) are better than previous JLR offerings, because it really saddens me to say it, but all the German brands are massively better in these respects. TVR anyone?

Ha, the new v used chestnut on a car that hasn't even been released yet. Utterly pointless. And two cars mentioned that have no relevance whatsoever to an F Type.

Just leave the point that £90k does seem a hell of a lot for an F Type, which does seem true.
