RE: Chris Harris video: Porsche 962
Discussion
A Porsche 962, a slightly tatty & far from concours 962 at that, Norbert Singer, Rothmans livery & Harris grinning like an idiot!!!
What is not to like about that 13 minute video?
A fantastic race car, a great bloke (Mr Singer) & iconic livery. If only we had such things today.
More please. In fact - i'm off to YouTube for some more automotive porn i think.
Monkey? Hate him for getting the chance to drive such a fabulous car. Now, i think, he needs to get into a Sauber C9 & a Jaguar XJR9 LM for comparison purposes.
With me as his helpful assistant & co-driver for the day!!!!!

Edited to add that the bit about the ground effect and how you can tell it's working is the most fascinating thing I've heard in a long long time.
Thank you Chris.

What an incredible video. My favourite racing car of all time, in HD, with in-depth commentary from Harris, I couldn't think of a better way to make a video about this car. And Singer too, what a bloke, his enthusiasm is so clear and genuine, he has an awful lot to be proud of; with his guidance and Porsche's undoubtedly brilliant engineering team, they created a car that is iconic and enduring.
I recall being at Silverstone for the 6 hour race in 1982 when the 956 made its debut - i have photos of the car in the pit garage with its bodywork off!!!
Can you imagine that happening today?
At the time i thought that the 956 was the most gorgeous race car i had ever seen, apart from the JPS Lotus 79, & i still think like that today.
It is just beautiful.
It just looks right doesnt it? The shape, the Rothmans livery. As they say - if it looks right then it usually is.
If only race cars looked like this today - & could be started with a key!!!!
Sublime. Thank you Mr Singer.

Norbert Singer.
Why isn't he more famous? He can talk on Engineering subjects and not bore the listener. He can talk eloquently in a language that is not his first language. He's obviously an Engineering genius.
He's the guy that made the car win, not any of the drivers. You can see why Porsche were so dominant in sports car racing in that era, they had this guy at the helm.
Fantastic video, the car is almost overshadowed by the man. Almost.
