Judging by my peer group, an A4 or a 320d are very "aspirable" cars irked

Ugh.

I can see why some of you think this isn't so bad, but a Renaultsport Clio should be about the most involving, exciting driving experience you can get in a small hatch while retaining a modicum of practicality.

Auto-box? Turbo 1.6? 5-doors? Simulated engine noise? No thank you Renault.

I wonder, how does the number of doors detract from the driving experience?

Perhaps it was a 182 Trophy (Capsicum Red) - in which case he did tongue out

Strange, I was having a pint with a mate last night, he was going on about how he missed his 172, a car he's already owned and sold twice.
I told him abut a really nice looking cherry red 182 I saw in Perth the previous day. Looked really choice.

Another pal has the 200, lovely car, this new one looks fat, not cool phat, just fat. And ugly.

Its like a hot chick who's had a kid and let herself go. A lot.

Did they nick the design out of the Citroen ds3 rejects bin? I'm an RS Clio owner and this doesn't seam to resemble anything like the traits us Clio owners love frown a shame but I bet it will be better than we think and it will grow on us, I hope smile

I'm not a Clio sport expert (although I have a deep admiration for them), but am willing to learn. Looked just like this one http://www.clio-sport.co.uk/renault-clio-172-sport... see photos below header. It was on a 53 plate.

Capsicum red isn't a metallic colour tongue out

I'm just being pedantic, that's a 172, not a 182, but yes, you could get them in Flame Red metallic which is what you probably saw smile

Whats wrong with it? Looks better than the Fabia Vrs DSG and the new Golf GTI (DSG) cars which this is confronted with.
Which is fine if this is a "who's got the nicest looking car in the street" contest, rather than a "what is the best hot hatch these days" contest which is actually what we are talking about. I don't get the whole "well, paddle shifts are fine in McLarens and Ferraris" thing - no, they are not OK in top of the line cars, they are forced on the buying public 70% of whom think it's cool because it's like a PlayStation and the other 30% who suffer it as the only option. I have yet to see a report from a motoring journalist saying "thank god they got rid of the manual gearbox option, DSG is far more involving and fun."

RenaultSport appear to have taken every single unique selling point that made their hot hatches so good over the last decade, ripped it up and followed the crowd. The turbocharged engine was kind of inevitable, but frankly the rest of it is bks.

Think I'll pick up a 200 and stick it in the garage for winter b-road blasts. The last and best of the breed.

I'll reserve judgement on the looks until I actually see one, I always seem to like cars a lot more in the flesh when you can really drink in the details.

Renault have a reputation for making good hot hatches so I doubt very much that this will be an exception. Remember Renault heavily relies on RS sales. The five door option does seem a little odd but they seem to disguise it well. As for the turbo, if it kicks in like the GT Turbo used to, it will be great fun although i doubt it will. However renault have experience of turbocharging enjoys so I would imagine it wont disappoint. Its not ugly and its not beautiful but then again most renault owners don't buy them for that........ Unless its a V6 wink

Urgh, what a minger. Ugly, 5 door only, inappropriate gearbox, fake fking piped in engine noise, what the hell are Renault playing at? I understand their hand has been forced to a degree by Euro regs, but there are some seriously dodgy choices going on here.

turbo engine that can pick up at 1,750 rpm dont quite need a twin clutch as much at the naturally aspirated, a bit other way round this. prefer manual 6 speed, revving motor, 2 doors, three shiny pedals instead of two.

That Clio has hit the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. What are they thinking.....especially after Peugeot released the decent looking 208.
