Project Manager: What can we do to change the design of the car on this mk7978365434231245689809 golf??

Design boss: Err, take one side of the outer spoke off the wheels???

Project manager: SOLD!!

What a frankly boring boring car. Usual over priced, mundane VAG scrap as usual. This overall shape will still continue for the next 3/4 mks of golf....and pass down to the Polo too!!

The new Focus ST may be as ugly as Werzel Gummage, but at least its a good bit different than the last Focus and the one before!

I'd always choose a Golf over an A3. Don't really know why, it's just a default choice of mine.
Yes picking which freshly painted wall to watch dry is a difficult decision.
You make it clear that you think all VAG cars are dull yet you can't help but comment every time there is a discussion about a new model.

There are times when your comments are so dull/predictable you could be mistaken for a spambot which also makes me wonder if you have ever read a single review of a Golf (or one of it's relatives) let alone driven one.

Actually I quite like this and have been on VW's mailing list for quite some time:

I don't know what it drives like though, but visually I think it looks wonderful.

Just realised the importance of this date. It means the new Octavia vRS will no sooner than winter 2012. It was suggested it would be summer but VW will want the Golf out first.

Awww you like the bug.

To be fair I agree t he new new Beetle looks like it should have more universal appeal and is slightly less likely to be branded a girls car.

Having been following some of the Paris Motorshow coverage on VW Vortex, I spotted this picture. Now to me, any manufacturer that can turn up at a show with this selection of cars cannot be accused of being boring.

What a daft comment. Like saying the A4 looks like an A8 so buy an A8.
I'm not a fan or the sweeping statements but he's right. A while back my honey was thinking about replace her 206 for a Golf. Popped to the local VW palace... 2 rows of Golfs and Polos out front and another 2 rows along the side. From a little distance, at a glance, cars all parked at an angle you had to check which one you were looking at. The Current Polo is the probably the size of a mk3 or 4 Golf.

I quite like that, the red through the lights is interesting at least, and the cheque seats are a welcome feature.

That said I won't be queueing up to buy one, it's just not quite interesting enough yet.

The other way around you mean.

I am sorry that you think the comment is daft. But I do struggle to see what a Golf offers over a Polo. Assuming you are in the market for a VW which takes 4/5 people and a reasonable amount of luggage, the Polo seems like a good bet. I admit to not being an afficiando, but I have mistaken a Polo for a Golf a couple of times recently, so I think they do look alike to the casual observer. The Polo seems to have grown to the size the Golf used to be, too. I am sure you will point out that the Golf comes with bigger engines and the like, but presumably the Polo weighs less so should cope with a smaller powerplant?

In any event, I am surprised anybody takes any notice of my ramblings. And based on your post, I am not sure whether it is better to run off a sentence that attempts to encapsulate in a few words what I think (and risk being castigated for my trite opinions), or write out a little essay justifying my thought processes (and bore the t*ts off everyone).

The Polo has been bigger than the Mk1 Golf for a few versions now, the current Polo is 15mm short of a Mk2 in length, according to Wikipedia.
