I do like the multiple separate LED lights though, the 0803's "different flashing patterns for different things" idea is just dumb in a scenario where people's attention needs to remain elsewhere.

Hmm what does PH make of this.

Car was blocking me from going down inside lane. ok not in a hurry but then cars in front of him move he doesnt. hes looking down to his left perhaps texting or whatever.

so i use the horn to let him know cars have moved and he can proceed. he then maliciously blocks me then runs the red light. you can even see one car has crossed in front already of him.

my fault for using horn? does that excuse his actions.

the sort of guys that deliberately blocks people who dare to warn him is a prick imo.

Didn't quite look in control of the car, kangarooing off there.

Nothing wrong with beeping.

He did that on purpose, you possibly horned him a bit quick, but he was a dick in response.

Can't be bothered to upload it, but just now someone flashed to let me through a section with parked cars down both sides, and the car behind him just swung out around him and came through. She did not get the deep irony in my thumbs up gesture. As I then passed him there was much shoulder shrugging from us both.

Rear cameras - what do people do? I've had a front one for about six months now after someone nearly killed me on the motorway. Since then, nothing serious to report other than someone running into the back of me a few weeks back. Luckily he immediately accepted responsibility, and has paid up no hassle. Thinking a rear is probably a good idea now though.

yes fair enough probably did but i could see his head clearly looking low and left he had also been fiddling down there while driving slowing and speeding up before then.

I also know any little gap and those lights change as you saw. so yes probably a little early to horn but it was meant for info not to have a go smile

As mentioned a few pages ago, I have a rear camera. I don't really see how much a front only can prove, tbf - must cover a small proportion of potential incidents

Yeah, although things like people pulling out in front of you etc.

I really meant, and apologies as I wasn't clear - what do people have, and how do they get power to it? My car is pretty old, so presume I'll have to either run a cable from the lighter socket, or wire it in somewhere.

I used a 12v to 5v converter from ebay(just search loads of options) then 3 meter micro usb cable also from ebay.

tapped into wires to fag lighter as that was easiest to get power from.

I have this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281411724403?_trksid=p20...

Quite easy to set up and plenty of length to the cables to tuck them in and around the headlining, pillars etc.

Runs off a cigarette lighter socket. Micro USB at the camera, so could get a different power connection (hard wired etc.) if you wanted to.

What do the different LED sequences mean? Not been able to find an answer so far!

Mine's alternating red-and -violet when I start up, eventually going flashing blue after a while. Is it too do with GPS lock?

I don't see it the same as you. When at the bus stop area, he didn't have anywhere else to go, it's one lane at that point, with a central hatched area. You beeped and annoyed him.

(There also appears to be some kind of entrance on the left which he correctly chose not to block, but I don't know the road so it could be of limited importance.)

It changes from that point on, the red car driver shouldn't have reacted the way he did, and the red light is a bad violation, but it started with your own impatience..?

Eh?

He beeped a little impatiently when he seemed to be too distracted in his car to notice the cars in front had moved, but that's not an excuse for him to straddle both lanes and even use the incorrect lane to go straight whilst simultaneously jumping a red light

He did actually, he could have moved forward earlier before the cars started there was a but if a gap and the road starts to widen. Possibly enough for me to slip past. No entrance on the left these cameras seem to shorted space in front.

But yes I take your pint on the patience

LED status:

Red = charging
Blue = standby
Red/blue flashing = recording

I actually used a black marker pen to block out the LED light status because these dash cams automatically start recording when powered up and I didn't want to be distracted by the flashing LED. And to anyone interested, the main LCD screen switches off after one minute (set in preferences) which provides the ability to check where it is pointing whilst not distracting when driving - it's hidden from view by the mirror so isn't really an issue.

Is well worth watching the TechMoan reviews of the 0801 dash cam on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdPHXv8Hzj8 and the 0803 dash cam on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LWOq62cY6U

Are you sure? As above, mine goes red/blue (well, actually a red/violet colour) for a while then goes to flashing blue. It's recording all the time, even when flashing blue (it's in that state most of the time).

Probably means the battery is full if red stops maybe.

I've not covered my LEDs as the camera doesn't always start. I think it depends how quickly I start the car.

Leave it on the glow plus then start it seems to confuse it

That would make sense; it stops shortly after I start up which would probably tally with it 'topping up' the battery. I would like the LED to be slightly dimmer as it can be quite distracting at night - it's rather bright.

That's where the black marker pen comes in handy wink

I've seen the red flashing a sharp pattern whilst I'm moving though, on occasion, and the difference between that and solid red I have no clue whatsoever on!
