So I've had a look at this thread and all it seems to mention is the 0801 and 0805 on repeat, and I have not got the time for all 141 pages! In the interest of fairness and an informed choice, does anyone have a different make they consider just as good? I'd rather understand the facts than just buy the same as everyone else, given the choice on the market.

(Am I the only one who finds Techmoan really irritating as well? No idea why)

I have a Mobius which are really decent little cameras. Best comparison is on the Techmoan website, although you can just view the in-car video footage and not watch the reviews thumbup

So as a techy I'm well pissed I've been caught out, it's only for £12 or so but I've bought a dodgy microsdhc card.

I checked the reviews first and checked the history of the seller and it was one that Amazon said, people who bought the eprance 801 also bought samsung class6 32GB card.

However, let this be a warning to people,
1.Amazon bundle all the samsung reviews together so it's a review of the product not the seller!
2.The seller of the item I clicked on seems to have changed on purchase, and changed to some chinese seller that I didn't notice!
3. The packaging looked very authentic as did the card, had ce mark and serial number, and the first 8GB worked so when initially tested it worked fine.

I can quite safely say I'll be avoiding Amazon from now on if they allow companies to work the system like this. I'll be putting a dispute in asap.

when you do get your card, keep the packaging and test is using this program.

Fakes are so rife with everything like this on Amazon now that there are so many Marketplace sellers. SD cards, power supplies, cables, cig lighter adapters, you never know what you're getting and may as well just buy from some random on eBay. frown

I only buy small electronic items direct from Amazon themselves now rather than any of the Marketplace sellers.

Yeah, same; I only buy stuff direct from Amazon (where they sell and dispatch) now as well. They need to find a way of sorting it out as it's also one of the reasons why I stopped using eBay...

If you need a source of good cheap SD cards etc try www.7dayshop.com - I've used them loads and they've been great.

It was so bad with "Genuine" Samsung phone batteries with clearly completely fake reviews that I ended up buying something direct from Anker. Better than the original from Samsung.

Great thread. And thanks to Techmoan. I think I've found exactly what camera to get. Probably the K1S combined front/rear camera setup.

It's a lot of wires to try and route nicely which is the only turn off but I do want a front/rear setup as last time misses had an accident the ahole sideswiped her from the rear and is now protesting his innocence.

If you want small discrete cams isnt a pair of mobius a better bet?
Looking at the reviews on Techmoan the K1S cameras are much smaller (and therefore more discrete) than the mobius. You also get the files all in one place and can review your footage on the go. For pure value for money though, a pair of Mobiuseseses are a hard package to beat.

I could be expecting too much and the Mobius picture quality is very good but they do very poorly with anything moving. Any differential in speed greater than a hand full or so of mph and registration plates become a blur.

I've had two set up for probably coming onto a year and they're still running reliably though and they've caught some interesting moments.

Staffordshire police deem 1080p footage as insufficient evidence mind, but that's another story...

I've not noticed any problem with the footage of the Mobius.

What's the deal with Staffordshire Police? I doubt their own in car cameras are any better.

I bought the same card as you from the 'people also bought' bit but when i checked mine i noticed some differences, note the writing on the rear of the card and the place of manufacturer. Could this be an early indication of real vs fake? I'll test my card later today and post the outcome, so far it has worked fine.

wavey Paul is it for the DBS?
Did you format the card before you used it?

Yes it's in the DBS
What I don't get is I dropped the car off at Stratstone after installation for sat nav upgrade, they delivered the car back to me.
I drove the car home.
It's recorded the Stratstone drive but not my drive home.
Error 2948 shows it working as it matches the time but corrupt.

Nice 458 speciale hehe
I had a similar issue with my 801 in the M35i, easily cured by angling it a bit further down
I also bought a couple of spare mounts and extra cables so I can swap it from the BMW to the Aston to the S2000 easily
Dula purpose as it allows me to record some of the new hoon routes smile

Back to your error code!
Did th card come with the camera or did you buy it seperately?
I'd try reformatting it whilst its in the camera

That won't really help; you'll change the white balance by pointing it higher and underexpose the foreground.

Also top tip; turn off image stabilisation on YouTube, it's horrendous.

Edit: your 0805 seems to have the same quality issue mine did where things look a little blurry compared to the 0803; perhaps mine wasn't faulty if they're all like that...
