Has anyone found a reliable UK seller for the K1S yet?

A colleague was trying to order 1 (originally 2 but the seller said he now only had 1) from a seller on Ebay. Says he UK based and has UK stock. He keeps getting fobbed off every time he asks for a delivery date.
JooVuu - that's where mine came from.
I've ordered the K1S which is on backorder, hopefully not too long a wait.

This seller (eletoponline365) is the maker of them. Excellent customer support via Skype should it be required (I speak from experience as I, ahem, "accidentally" fried the first one I got hehe ).

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mobius-ActionCam-Full-HD....

The windscreen suction cup they sell for it works very well and the USB cig charger they sell is the correct power output - both well worth getting.

I've had my Mobius nearly 2 years and it's in use for around 12 hours a night 5 nights a week. It's only locked up once in all that time and it was quickly resolved with a firmware update. I run it on 1080p 30fps and reg plates are perfectly readable during the day time and same at night in well illuminated areas. See the review on techmoan.com if you haven't done so already.
Many thanks for that ATJ. Will get one ordered asap!

Installed by Mobius (Wide angle lens) on Sunday and it's been great so far. Made me realise how bad my singing voice is though.

Considering getting a bigger SD card for it and taking it on our European road trip in July.

Hi Folks

Two questions

1)
I am primarily looking at a dashcam as a means of recording scenery on road tips to hopefully do some editing with and make into a short movie. Does the whole business of the dashcam recording in 2 or say 5 min segments prevent this (make it very cumbersome)...if you wanted footage of a 20 minute drive up a mountain pass let's say for example

2)
Am drawn to the Ambarella 0805: could anyone advise if I can run these from a USB socket or do they have to be either the cigarette lighter charger or hardwired?

I have a sat nav charger into an adapter that has a few usb plugs so being able to plug into one of those would be perfect

Many Thanks

thats good to hear, is it just fit and forget like the 080_ series of cameras, as in starts recording when you give it power, and stops when you park, turning off the ignition, if your 12V works that way?

cheers
Yes, if you set it up that way in the camera settings. There are many different options for the behaviour and you can customise most to how you want. I have mine to auto-power on and start recording when power connected and I think I have it set to run on for about 10 seconds after disconnecting power. I'm a stickler for quality stuff and spend far too long reading reviews before opening my wallet but the Mobius is a good quality camera - especially as it comes out of China - and for the money I can assure you that you won't do better. Buy it direct from the seller and it'll be here in about 7 days (both mine were here in 5). Even when I had to send back my first one I fried they received it back in 8 days and it only cost me £2 and some pence to send (which, incidentally, was refunded by way of a free USB cig charger and extra USB > mini-USB lead). Don't bother with the UK resellers as they'll do their best to ignore you if you have any problems with it.
Thanks for that. I'll order one tomorrow when im gone and on a pc. along with a 64gb card.

Based on the reviews on Tech Moan and other places I have just received through the post an A118 wedge. I didn't like the idea of having to have separate mounting kits on the Mobius and this is supposed to be just as good.

Video quality seems good, now just have to figure out how to wire it in to my car!

Great choice, it's a very impressive bit of kit, as regards the 64GB card, just make sure you format it FAT32 on your computer, if you have a Mac then it's very easy because you can use the inbuilt Disk Utility app and select MS-DOS (FAT) from the drop-down menu, not sure how you do it on a PC. I'm currently using a 128GB Sandisk Ultra micro SD card and have had no problems whatsoever.

I believe you can use a program such as Registrator Viewer http://www.registratorviewer.com/index_en.html to stitch the clips together, if you're using a Mac then you could import multiple clips into iMovie, otherwise just set the unit to record continuously until you cut the power, I'm pretty sure the 0805 and 0806 dash cams can be used with larger capacity SD cards, so a 64GB or 128GB would be able to record many hour of footage, my 0806 uses approx 500MB per 3 minute clip so the recording time using a 128GB card would be approx 12 hours. A 64GB card would be approx 6 hours before it starts over-writing the oldest video footage. I say approx because it depends upon what settings you select. The figures I've provided are for everything set to maximum quality.

You might not have enough power coming from the USB socket though you can of course buy a multi-port adapter for use in the cigarette lighter, seem to think there are plenty on sale on Amazon.

I have both a 0806 in use which is hard-wired, and a Mobius action Cam (which is set to record continuously when it receives power) which I can power either via the cigarette socket, or using an external power-bank which works a treat.

I purchased the 0806 from www.combi.org.uk and the Mobius from the manufacturer's ebay page which is http://stores.ebay.co.uk/eletoponline365

Ouch, that singing sounds painful, you know that you could always mute the sound so you don't have to damage your hearing cool

If it's any help I've been using a 128GB Sandisk class 10 Ultra micro SD card for several weeks now which I formatted FAT32 on my Mac and it's worked perfectly well with no problems to date.

Have also tested it out with a smaller and cheaper 64GB Kingston Class 10 micro SD card which worked flawlessly, which I formatted FAT32 using Disk Utility which is built in to most (if not all) Apple Macs.

If you're looking for something to record scenery and do some editing with, I'd recommend just getting a GoPro Camera.

The GoStudio for editing is great and simple to use, the footage is fantastic quality and it's far more than just a DashCam. You can also buy multiple mounts to record from all sorts of angles, in car, outside the car etc.

WooHoo, my K1S has just arrived.

I'll try and remember to take some pictures when installing it.

I also seem to recall that someone had created the correct format file for the camera database, it'll be somewhere in this thread, but anyone know which page (20 post per page) or have it saved themselves?

After far too long thinking about buying one, my Mobius has arrived just this afternoon. Currently messing with options as waiting on another delivery in the next day or two for the suction mount and additional cables. Also need to go and get myself a larger memory card.

Quick question, I've purchased a 3m cable for it from Joovuu, will that charge it through the cig lighter socket (with an adapter of course) while I'm driving? Or do I need a specific car plug?

It should charge fine. It does appear to be recommended though that you swap the battery for the super capacitor due to the LiPo battery not coping too well in heat. The capacitor doesn't retain much charge compared to the battery, but it just gives the device enough charge delay to save the current file when it detects that the power has been cut.

You can download the MobiusManager app which will enable you to make changes to the settings very easily, or just edit the config file if you are comfortable doing that, I've included a few screenshots of the Mobius Manager configuration page which may help you.

Thanks. I will get the capacitor at some point but I'm in no rush for it.

I've already set everything up on my PC to how I think I want it, thanks. Also downloaded the app but waiting for the cable to arrive in case I ever want to adjust on the move.

Done a quick test on the way to the gym and I'm happy so far. Although it was without the mount so I wedged it under my headrest and I didn't realise how low that would be on video.

ETA - when I click the M to save a video, does it save either side of that clip? What if an accident happens to be at the time of the change of clip?

It says in the blurb that it records the clip before or after in a rather intelligent way depending on how far into the current file it is. I've never put mine to the test so can't comment if it works or not.

I run a 32GB Sandisk UHS class 10 card in mine and use the shortest recording period, which I think is 2 mins. Mine is also on the standard battery, no capacitor. With the exception of one case, mine has never crashed, corrupted a file nor overheated in the 2 years of heavy use it gets.

Can someone remind me the best place to buy a 0806?

Ta
Joovuu have it with CPL for a ton currently: https://www.joovuu.com/gb/home/245-mini-0806.html
There customer care is very poor, I got sent wrong camera, then it did not work.
No updates on my order, still waiting on my order after a few months.

I have sent many email's just left hanging waiting on a reply.
My mate's 0806 came from there next-day and no issues. <shrug>
Update still on going, I moved to a new address told them and updated on there file system.

Weeks before they finally, sent it out after many emails to them for updates.

They sent it to my old address and blame me for the mistake.

There excuse is for security reasons, sent to the first address I give when I made my first order.

They did not check the order details ?

So its on going with them still?
Still on going furious
Update looks like its going to Trading Standards?

They said no record of my emails, or on there system about a change of address.
I even wrote it on the return slip when I sent back my fault 0806
I also sent a copy of the email, to show it had been done and sent out.

After forty email now to sort this out. I got a email today MATTER CLOSED my fault it went to the wrong address?

So BEWARE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.

I ordered my mount and cables from Joovuu on Tuesday, the same day I ordered my Mobius from banggood... My camera arrived yesterday but just had an email this afternoon saying Joovuu have shipped my order. I was expecting it delivered by today!
