Really? The cam car is clearly some form of commercial vehicle and, other than maybe pulling out a car length too soon for the overtake, seemed to make the maneuver relatively quickly. The actions from the Golf are inexcusable.

I could handle that ok, its definitely a spot of crap driving and no doubt the driver is a mouth breather but id have been fine in any of those vehicles. No evasive action required.

As the copper dealing with it, id file it with a priority somewhere below "theres no good choc biscuits left so im nipping to the corner shop" and slightly above "someone called me a nasty name on facebook".

Hi, Does anyone have any photos of dash cameras mounted in cars around the rear view mirror? I cant seem to find any taken from outside the car showing it.

I am worried about permanently mounting a dash camera front and rear in the car and people thinking it is a sat-nav or similar and simply breaking in for the hell of it.

Thanks.
Really not visible in my Focus. Mobius camera.

Am i dreaming this ,but IIRC there was/is a dashcam with a rear view camera built in. so you get front and rear shots on the same unit. If so is it any good?
Oh and has anyone fitted a cam on a Volvo V70. I too am a little bit wary of the local scrotes spotting it.and as it has the dark middle bit in ront of the rear view mirror it looks a reasonble place to site it

Thanks

Which camera detector do you have? Is that the Road Angel Gem+?
Yes.
Any good? I used to have the Road Angel Compact. But it was a pain bringing it in to update it, windows only, so I had to fire up my ancient PC (now retired) to update it as they didn't do a mac version. And how does it cope with mobile hairdryer holding police? The version I had only did the old style hairdryers.

Just as an update to my previous post on this thread about the Mini 0806 (0803 replacement), I have just had this through as I was following the site -
http://www.carcamwarehouse.com/mini_0806_car_camer...
Looks like it MIGHT have the ability to record onto a larger capacity card than 32gb...?

I have one with a screen & front camera, then it has a like a 3.5mm cable connected rear view camera that you can extend to the rear screen. Rear cam is 480p, front is 720p (although it says 1080, it's clearly not). Both cams record to separate folders on the SD card. Has sound and the front is 270 degree angle lens, surprising how good a view it captures for what it is.

Picked it up for less than £40 new off ebay - not bad for the money even if it only lasts a year.

Yes saw that the other day, also says "Simple fitting of a Circular Polarizing Filter", I wonder if that is a CPL that they supply?

Not sure if serious...

It's a bollard though I think, for the benefit of doubt.

I'm not sure I would bother these days to be honest mate. Cyclops on the iphone or Waze et al seem to do just as good a job and "live" updates for mobile units via the community on there.

I always feel a bit safer with a camera detector mainly for areas I don't know all that well but, when taking into account the cost of the unit, the annual subscription etc, I am not sure I would bother. With a mix of iphone apps, Tom Tom with camera updates etc, when I near a camera my whole interior starts lighting up like a Christmas tree.

The reason I'm looking again is that they have recently turned on a section of average cameras on the A9 from Perth to Dunblane, and the website says it can display average speed which would come in handy. The subscription charges have increased a bit though, I used to pay £4 a month on the compact.

ETA: Sorry to go off topic. I have a dashcam already, so I'm allowed!

Downright dangerous, the escape route should the vehicle with the dash camera decide to pull back would be compromised.

And we wonder why accidents happen, hope he gets the book thrown at him. It Is a sod of a road for overtaking, but undertaking an overtaking vehicle is unaceptable.

Got it off eBay up angle mini usb lead

Think it was up anyway, you can get all other types too. The up angle ones I could find maxed out at 2m so I have a short extension fitted to get it to the cigarette lighter.

It states that the 0806 can accept two 128GB memory cards for uses such as long distance haulage, taxi firm protection and driver training purposes.

Will be interesting to see if this information is correct when the 0806 is officially launched. What I want to know is how much is it going to cost. And why did they make the back of the unit in shiny silver when the matt black looked perfectly acceptable - perhaps the 0801 and 0803 were too stealthy and not enough of them were being stolen!
