That was an absolute bargain lol ... was about to arrange to go & buy it this afternoon frown

If only to use over winter, & then to Le Mans next year.

Balls.

The classic RR is indeed a nice car and exceptionally good at offroading for a luxo-4x4.

However, compared to the rugged Defender, you would be constantly worried about scraping your colour coded bumpers or scraping your shiny alloy wheels on a rock.

That's a sensible, bargain vehicle and as such has no place on this thread of awesomeness. Shame on you.

In terms of everything subjective this wipes the floor with this weeks SOTW Range Rover. It'll be better in nearly every respect.

And given the choice I would take the Range Rover, every time.

really dont like these, much prefer the P38 or series 2 whatever theyre known as.

I worked at rimmer bros when they turned their hand to selling these, god I hated them with a passion lol.

I've always loved the looks of the 2 door. I have a 1981 2 door 3.5 which is awesome off road and for lugging around by drum kit but lacks the comfort of these. The perfect solution is therefore a CSK - a limited run of 200 luxury 2 doors in 1990 built to celebrate 20 years of the Rangie.

Classic is a better car though IMO.

Objectively, a fully-working P38 is miles better.

Rust, problematic electrics, dodgy air suspension, slipped liners... What's not to love about them
Most, in fact almost all Classics don't have air suspension. Slipped liners is not normally an issue with the 3.5/3.9 (and 4.2) RV8's. Thats much more of an issue with the newer 4.0 and 4.6 variants found in the p38a and D2.
Anything 3.9 and above can suffer from slipped liners. 3.5 was a sorted engine however.

I think the words 'fully-working' are the key. A P38 is very rarely this although when it is they are great. As an overall car however, the classic is far more reliable and would be a much better choice as a daily.

lol, but no not really. As some RR's came on steel wheels and you can fit most steel wheels to an RR if you want to swap them. As for bumpers, well they where only colour coded if you had a black Range Rover wink

I had a V8 Classic years ago and took it to an off road centre in Wales. All the other cars were Defenders and initially there were quite a few comments about us getting stuck as it's an auto, Rangies aren't as good off road, etc, etc. My Classic didn't get stuck once all day wading through mud up to the doors, etc (the same can't be said for all of the Landies however). They are brilliant cars off road but for some reason there does seem to be a bit of hate towards them from Defender owners.
