Horrible fuel economy though for very little in terms of forward propulsion. Part of the MKIV TDI raison d'etre is the ability to whisk along at a decent lick, whilst actually using zero fuel.

I'd prefer a mk3 VR6 tbh. Still miss the noise mine made.

Yes, but the VR6 was best part of it. Made far more sense in the Corrado anyway IMO.

MKIV no longer a feisty hatch (R32 notwithstanding); it grew up and evolved into a boring (but supremely competent) slogger. Ergo, no point having one with a feisty engine.
