I know this isn't a 328i, therefore it isn't worth posting but I think a tidy E36 is a good thing and at least it has the 'better' 4 pot lump under the bonnet.

I like that a lot.

Me too, looks nice and would be good enough to smoke for a couple of years without much hassle and it could provide a very good base for an eventual track project.

Grubes - listen to your Uncle G, ex-cars are like ex-girlfriends: they're an ex for a reason.

Keep the memories fond and move on.
I can't speak for ex-cars, but this analogy seems like it would be surprisingly accurate.

However, if it really holds true you won't listen, despite knowing it'll never quite be what you want ti to be.

Good luck.
On that basis, take it for a test drive and explore its boundaries as you used to, and you'll be satisfied that you don't want it back.

Mrs G is far too sensible for that sort of twaddle.

And it would live either underground or in a garage.
thumbup Sounds like you should do it then.

I would find it very hard to look beyond a decent 328i coop at half the money
As would I. Engine note is half the battle with my car choices.

I understand that, I'm just drawn to lowly models when they are left as the manufacturer intended.

I mean; I feel quite guilt about ripping it to bits. It was really rather good, and well specced.
What's the body/chassis shell like? Has it had much welding? Rear arches and the panel above the arch; what are they like?

I do like some of the sales lines in the advert.

"The car has an electric sunroof and electric windows, so who cares about A/C? "

"The central locking works, but curiously only from the passenger side, not drivers door. This is a quirk that helps define the personality of the car and should be embraced by the new owner."

"Although not in brand new condition, it has worn elegantly and supports the fantastic character of the car."

"It does have a gearbox issue, but apart from this it was in good condition and has had substantial amounts of work carried out."

Articulate, certainly, but really not making me want to buy the car somehow.

£625 plus £31 for the insurance to get it home. Even came with half a tank.

Bargain, you should weigh that in.
