I conceed, that is a far better proposition. It could only be bettered by being a 760i. Although the 750i is probably a more sensible selection.
Indeed. I'm glad the 760 exists, as that makes a 750 the "sensible" choice wink

Mrs G is remarkably relaxed about the car thing. Maybe it's because we're still in the "honeymoon period". But since we got married in Feb I've had 6 cars and, so long as I don't take a complete bath on any of them, she doesn't seem to care.

I wonder how long it'll last...
...until you're like Olly and taking a bath in them.
Yup. It was all going so well until the hog.

I remember when I said I was catching a train to pick the CSL up. I hadn't got full permission to purchase, infact, I had none. But I got away with that one.
Tbh I think thats the only reason I get a cold shoulder. The only car ive made money on ever was my Alfa GTV. I've had 5 since then frown
Are cars about making money? Do wives with husbands who play golf or go fishing or watch football matches expect those hobbies to enrich the family?

If it is I'm failing. I made money on one car and that's because of the insurance industry not because I bought and sold well.

I agree fully Gerald. Its my hobby. getting her to agree is harder though.

I try not to feel too smug when I mention she spent more on handbags than I have spent on cars this year smile

Schoolboy error, young padawan. Never introduce logic into a discussion/negotiation with ze laydees.

Always appeal to her nurturing sense of wanting you to be a happy, content hubby.

Can you share more details on here if Olly takes a rain-check?
Yes, of course. This was my post a few days back and I honestly don't know any more other than the chap who is selling it is a decent mechanic (he's very rude about my Alfas wink ) and likes his old E numbers. His daily drive is a 318is and he has a 325i track slag. I don't know how he came about the E28 but I can forward contact numbers and so on. Car is based in Bradford, but please don't let that put you off!

He might not have a link... redface What he might have is a piece of A4 blu-tacked in the window. <old school>

But it was black, manual, red leather, no body kit. Looked a nice old thing, but it was more than a night out, especially "round here". I can find out more if you are interested.

Chaps.
Booked to see this wee thing on Sunday.
15 stamps, 14 of which are Subaru main dealer, 2 cambelts done (50k and 100k)
No modifications at all bar the Prodrive kit raising BHP to 265 (unless anyone knows any different?)
Ticks my boxes in terms of 4x4, good for bikes/shopping/tip etc.
My only problem is the colour/bugeye/stigma.

It's blue, what's wrong with blue? My Subaru is gold, of all things. Well strictly speaking it's Champagne Opal, but it's a hell of a lot worse than blue.

No. But there is a a difference between losing a bit, and what happened with me and the hog.

Like, going out for beers in Mayfair. Fine. No problem. Do an Aerofoil and then there is a problem...
How will she feel about you spending the next 18 months worth of weekends and nights lay underneath an old Bimmer and then coming to bed smelling of gear oil Swarfega? biggrin

I like that, I'd prefer a black or Silver one but that looks on the surface to be a good un.

Not done anything on it yet, and if I am being honest, probably won't.

Well indeed. Seems to be the attitude from Mrs G. Hence the "not taking a bath" comment above. She seems happy that the car habit keeps me largely out of trouble, provided I don't dip into the "house deposit fund" or get us into debt. No expectation that I should turn a profit from it.

Incidentally, the money I "made" a couple of weeks back (i.e. the difference between sale price of the e30 and purchase price of the W124), which I'd hoped to save towards a Mk2 Golf gti, was unexpectedly spent at the dentist the very next day having Mrs G's wisdom tooth removed...

Didn't realise these were appreciating so quickly:

May:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-5-Series-ALPINA-B10-...

Today:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-5-Series-ALPINA-B10-...

Discussions ongoing but apparently this is a future classic and the market for classics is going mental so they'll just keep it till is sells for the price they want...

Good news, its done under 10k miles since 2005 and up to that point the historys great.

Bad news, theres no proof it's been serviced since 2005 until the dealer did it earlier this year.
