How much could one flog those alloys for? I think that on standard wheels would be an utterly superb way to get about.4 grand for an '02' E500 with fMBsh

Ageless plate on it and have said it looks about £7500, god know's what the general public would go with.

Google "E500 glycol contamination" and do some light research before parting with cash would be my recommendation.
I do think the E500 of that generation looks great though, it needs those big wheels to *work* for me.
I'd agree on the wheel front. Merc's have a bad enough 'old man' image as it is! I do think the E500 of that generation looks great though, it needs those big wheels to *work* for me.
Will check out the glycol stuff.
Eta: blimey, so it appears coolant gets into the transmission and causes it to fail. Bit duff, but that being a dealer surely you'd have comeback on a dead gearbox.

I saw an "N-reg" Jaaag XJ the other day. For 895 quid......I wonder how long it would last.
Surprisingly hardy old beasts.Engine, 'box and back axle are very strong.
I wouldn't be as confident with an early X308 though.
