Is it true they all used to say the Cosworth was ran on better fuel but all the cosworths teams did was take there known good fuel with them from the UK where as others would get fuel in the location they was racing and end up with not as good a ron rating as the 500 boys?
I guess you're referring to the hoo ha at Bathurst in 87...? All teams ran on fuel supplied from the local pumps at the circuit including Egmo. All cars run better on higher octane fuel. Higher octane means more advanced timing means more power. Turbocharged cars might even benefit more due to the forced induction and artificially higher compression ratio. I dunno.

This is lovely. Its not 125k worth IMHO but it's jolly nice.
That's at auction. It'd retail for a vaste amount more than that.To suggest that RS500s will overtake RS200s of a similar provenance at any point soon is a touch fanciful.

Not fit to hold a candle to a Cosworth.J4CKO said:
Based on what, I am kind of playing devils advocate here, the Focus RS would utterly destroy a Cosworth, RS500 or otherwise in every appreciable measure (standard cars), is it the fact it is new or the fact it is front wheel drive ?
No, the Focus can't beat the Sierra Cosworth on one key element: coolness. One is a tarted up FWD shopping hatch with a dismal McDonald's car park matte black paint job, the other is a Sierra Cosworth. The one that Ron Hodgson has in has been for sale for the past ten years or so.
Years ago I saw one for sale at a BMW dealers in Ilford, it was £75K which seemed a lot back then, but I reckon it would fetch a lot more now, maybe not £130K though.
Sold last year for >£130kI think that one's about 750BHP & is the one that Clarkson drives in one of his DVD's or something, he boots it, it comes on boost & he loses it...
Yep it is,

He is talking about performance wise, not looks! The RS500 might be a 'classic' and a schoolboy's dream car but sadly, when compared to modern cars, it's actual on-road performance is not that impressive.
"New car in better than 20 year old car non-shocker"Pointless comparison in the context of desirability of one car vs another.

None of the homologation specials that are similar and were out at that time, be it RS500, Merc 190E Evolution 2 or BMW Evolution Sport have performance that is "impressive" these days for petrol heads. They only do 153-155ish flat out and reach 100 in about the same time or very slightly quicker than an E46 BMW 330 which you can buy for 2k..............
This really isn't the reason people will pay 40k/50k upwards for one in excellent condition.
