Best of luck trying to find another E30 Touring like mine in the same colour, as it's the only one! However, I do then have the shame of driving an old car frownwink

OP, does he actually know anything about cars, or is he just impressed with the look of your one and decided to get one himself? Maybe he'll turn up with a TDi in the same colour and not realise it's different!

Neighbour next door but one has the same house as us. To look at it from the outside you'd think it was ours. Front door, windows all in the same place and colour of bricks and paintwork - all just the same. Then I noticed that the person next door but one to them, they have one just the same as ours - uncanny or what...?

How long have you had yours? He may have been planning to buy one anyway and cursed when one turned up on your driveway.
About 3 and a half years, so that's not it.
We do have almost identical houses of course, are about the same age, have kids the same age and probably similar incomes, so maybe it is not so surprising. (The car is incredibly versatile). Thats probably why the terrace of houses posted above all had their black RAV4s as well.

Well look on the bright side, if someone comes down your street looking to steal a golf there is now a 50:50 chance you will wake up and be able to get to work without any hassle.

Sell the house, and GTFO asap. Are you attached? He probably has a route into your loft, and has bored microscopic holes in your ceilings so he can watch you poo.

Or, he might just like you or the VW Golf? Worry if he starts to part his hair like you, wear the same clothes, take up the same hobbies etc. He may want to creep inside you like a warm kitten.

I bought the same car as my neighbour once.

Only realised when I rang for a test drive and he answered.

Face it, you're just another one of the millions of consumer droids with similar house, car, family and life. And on the day you expire, another one takes your place seamlessly in the big machine.

'Individualise' your Golf by slamming it, stretched tyres on wide rims and massive camber. Extra points for sanding all the paint off the bonnet and letting it go rusty.

3 E39s appeared down my road soon after I got mine. Two of them have been barried and I don't see them anymore, and one a late 535 Sport hardly ever moves. Probably because they are ashamed of the hideous M badge on the front grill. Didn't bother me, except that they were all newer.

Anyway, we ran it for a couple of months, it was pretty crap and ruinous on fuel so we sold it and got a diesel MPV and he was happy again.
Your four year old son preferred a diesel MPV to a ride-on tractor?

I've been considering a GTR for about a year now, moved into my current house about 8 months ago and found out my next door neighbour has one, I asked him if he would mind if I got one (but woudnt be the same colour) and he was fine with it!

So it's not as if I'm copying him, just a coinsidince!
