Always loved these. Any owners on here want to regail us with stories? I need something to read this afternoon at work...
Where is that guy on here who had 2 F40 and 5 911s. He must have a couple??
LMAO, he is prob out there mass-debating about how he helped to design the car but had the leave before the launch cos he had to attend dinner at Buck Palace with Queen, Da Li Lama, Luke Skywalker et al.Where is that guy on here who had 2 F40 and 5 911s. He must have a couple??
I do have a treasured Enzo anicdote though. Got married in Sept 2004 and managed to persuade the current Lady P to honeymoon in Monaco (didnt take too much persuading. We stayed at was then the Monte Carlo Grande or Previously Lowes, funnily enough where the Lowes hairpin is.
Anyway, a good time was had by all but other than getting a massive buzz out of our hotel being the frikkin F1 tunnel there was also a swimming pool on the roof which afforded awesome views of the Med but also the run down from Casino Square to Lowes and Tabac. Other performing 'certain duties' that week I spent thhe majority of my time watching various metalwork blipping up and down the hill. Highlight being a corageous, foolhardy or more likely inexperienced new owner get his Enzo very sidewards up the hill. I nearly sex-weed.
I may be burnt at the stake for saying this but I'm going to say it anyway - I don't care for the F40 & think it looks very awkward bordering ugly indeed from some angles. I can appreciate the engineering that went into it, but then again a fair amount of engineering went into the Menai bridge & I wouldn't want to drive that either.
The Enzo however is a different story. It looks perfect at any angle & if (when!) I win the Euromillions I'll buy 2 - 1 to look at & 1 to drive.
It's not an age thing either - I'm 39 & remember the F40 coming out & didn't like it then. Loved the 959 though!

Here is a nice vid of the aforementioned F40, engineering focussed cinematography blended with some hoonage. The germanic fella with the round glasses is mereley a bonus.

F40 looks surprisingly good in dark blue, but my abiding memory of this vid is of the driver's socks. http://vimeo.com/16663638
Very interesting. Like it or not if your still care guy then the engineering in these hyper cars should interest you. And what about the forgotten 'F' car, which I might be inclined to argue the best looking?

Just shown that to my 3 year old while he is having his bath. http://vimeo.com/16663638
His only words were " I'm gonna drive one of them!"
That's my boy!

I got to spend a lot of time around Chris' Enzo when a friend of mine was repainting it (KDS) - the more time I spent the more I appreciated it, and noticed little things that I really liked.
It's an out and out race car, with some fantastic details. It made me smile every time I saw it
And by a lot of time you mean nearly 3 months! It's an out and out race car, with some fantastic details. It made me smile every time I saw it
and oh yes i have such an Appreciation for the car after spending so much time around it and stripping it down and then building it back up again.
and then was lucky enough to have a few laps out on the top gear test track , will never forget this one in a hurry.

what a car , out and out race/track car , now can see why cars like these HAVE to be used for what they were built to do.

Watch the value of these plummet over the coming years. Buoyed in the last few years because it was still relatively contemporary and not yet superceeded, plus importantly, people who can't drive could drive it by virtue of the gearbox. Ferrari have neglected their core customer base IMO (i.e. not those who just tag along in times of excess, but those who truely love cars). Apple .....tree ....far from! F40 and Enzo should not be mentioned in same breath IMO. One's a true classic, one is just of a time - fashion.

As awesome as this design is, I always felt that it didnt really feel like a Ferrari. The Ken Okuyma design feels much more like a modern NSX than a hyper Ferrari. Jason Castroita did a much better job with the P4/5 IMO. If you take the badges of this car, it will confuse alot f people whether it looks like a Prancing horse.

Oh yes must seem like a dream job to many a piston head member This was my view while we were repairing and completely wet sanding a nearly new BMW
I guess it not bad hey
But does become a job in the end , and have to actually get on with the work instead of admiring the art forms.
Its slightly spoilt "Vehicles" in general for me and now look for other forms of past times that is not car related the small amount of time i have away from work.
