Apologies if this seems a little amateurish, but what are the 3 butterfly valves at the top of the engine for, and how do they work?
Always wondered this.

Just stopping in to say I love this thread - loads of inspiration!

Those butterflys are the throttle, upstream of the supercharger, are they not?

its called a "bug catcher"

and it behaves in a similar way to a regular throttle butterfly, but its not "instead of" but "as well as" the regular throttle butterfly opening underneath it.

in the case of this RR.. it just has the butterflys on the bug catcher as its feeding the SC instead of a 4 barrel carb/webbers or ITB's

I hate these threads. Every post makes me feel that slotting an LS3 V8 into my MX5 is perfectly sensible.

Twin-engine, all wheel drive Yugo with a 500 cubic inch (that's 8.2 litres!) Caddy V8 at the back shirley? and a Chrysler 2.2 turbo/transaxle in the front;

Batst mental winner surely !
I just can not compute the viceral drive that thing must give.
Balls of steel needed I assume to even start it !
That is mad. What does a car with a large block V8 to the rear wheels with a 2.2 turbo coming on song at the front feel like??

Madness.
Despite all the worthy cars on this thread, the Yugos on this thread must count as the winning underdogs - and how!!!

Utterly inspired nutspartysmile !

I feel quite cleansed - and I'm sure I'm not alone... smile

Opel got as far as doing Autobahn testing on a V8 Omega but they couldn't keep it cool enough on long runs for production.
Wouldn't that pretty much just be a Holden Commodore? wink

The Dahlback Polo, gone is the humdrum four cylinder engine and in its place an Audi Rs4 sourced 2.7 litre V6 with a single (BIG) turbocharger which boosts to 2.4bar. The result? 990BHP and 1220Nm (circa 900ft/lbs)
It is also a full carbon bodied car and weighs in at 913KGs
