Those butterflys are the throttle, upstream of the supercharger, are they not?

its called a "bug catcher"

and it behaves in a similar way to a regular throttle butterfly, but its not "instead of" but "as well as" the regular throttle butterfly opening underneath it.

in the case of this RR.. it just has the butterflys on the bug catcher as its feeding the SC instead of a 4 barrel carb/webbers or ITB's

I always thought that they were the throttle body/carb just attached to the top of the charger, I must read up on this american big block stuff at some point
