I've always had a soft spot for Volvo wagons. This one may not be looney enough for this thread, but it's so well executed.

"The Beast"

http://www.thepetrolstop.com/2010/03/beast-merlin-...
Yeah, I was waiting for that - preferred it with the original body and the Wolfies - RR did us a favour losing the grille though wink

Awesome!
Does it count as an engine swap though? Charlie's SD1 surely does but The Beast was built with the Meteor engine from the start so it was never swapped in.

The same goes for RV3 imo, awesome car but it's a spaceframe and fibreglass car built around the engine. RV2 would count, steel bodied and several engine swaps, ending up with a huge 9litre monster.

Awesome cars though, I do agree with that.
Well, if we're going for cars that were partly built around the engine, then someone ought to mention the Napier and Packard Bentleys - 8-litre Bentley chassis with a 24-litre Napier Liion W12, and a 42-lire Packard twinport V12 respectively "swapped in" but in reality, specials built from the ground up that happen to utilise said chassis as their basis. Both owned by that nutter Chris Williams:

What was that Lexus v8 engined Omega I saw in Evo a few years back?
Not that mental. Opel got as far as doing Autobahn testing on a V8 Omega but they couldn't keep it cool enough on long runs for production.
Nah, there was some swedish(?) chap who'd tuned something up to 1000bhp and whapped it in the front of Vauxhalls executive barge. They tried to vmax it on some ring or other, but unremembered mechanical failure may have put paid to it.

Will try to dig the issue out in the absence of someone with an infallible memory.
i am sure it was in CCC too

I'm half-seriously considering dropping a Ford 7.3 Powerstroke TDV8 and accompanying ZF 6-speed manual from an F350 into my Discovery in 2 or 3 years time (the TD5 is getting a bit boring). I've seen a Cummins 6BT, Daf Gearbox and ERF turbo shoehorned into a less spacious Defender, so I know it should all just about fit.

...and there's my post for the 'juvenile things that make you snigger' thread. hehe

Quite a transplant, though, I'd imagine. The Td5 isn't a 'powerhouse'.

About 15 years ago now my next door neighbour put something 6+litres diesel into his mates classic Range Rover. I never went out in it but they called it "No Hills" as you never had to change down to go up a hill on the road.

And about 10seconds later you will seriously be considering new diffs/axles to replace the chocolate ones!
