420 miles from 40L was the best I ever recorded from my Fabia vRS mk1. Never gave it a easy life, lowest I recorded was 44mpg over a long trip. 17mpg over just under 10 miles.

Corsa 1.4 Twinport gets near enough 300 miles to 35L.

Even with a 307 110 HDi I could only avg 45mpg.

2001 V70 T5 Geartronic

410 miles on a normal spec, 70 (ish) motorway run: 27mpg (ish)
250 miles around the doors and commuting to work: 16mpg (ish)

Hmmmm, might have to start walking soon...

1998 Calibra 16v

500 miles on a normal spec, 70 (ish) motorway run: 38/39mpg (ish)
375 miles around the doors: 28/29mpg (ish)

I once had 1.9 TDi A6 Avant which I drove like a Nun for 50 miles and brimmed the tank and the trip computer seemed to think I'd be good for another 1100 miles - which I suspect was bks as that would mean averaging the best part of 70mpg.

The cambelt snapped 7 miles up the road.

406 hdi 110 - big tank, good mpg - obc says 1,200 miles but I think it's exaggerating - certainly a 1,000 miles + by experience.
Christ, my old 2.0 petrol 406 had the light flashing at 320 miles once, think that worked out at 25mpg for its 70 litre tank.

My current 1.6 petrol Astra has a 500 mile range on a 55l (I think, maybe 50) tank, that's 45mpg according to the onboard computer.

My bike gets 180 miles if I'm feeling brave, 65mpg on a 16l tank.

My Bora TDI PD 130 with 139,000 gets around 550 to 650 miles from 50L which is about £70 to fill. The tank from empty is 55L but I never let the light come on....
Cruising at 70mph usually sees high 50's to 60 mpg, puts quite a lot of new diesels to shame

BMW 1M - 240 (best 300)

Citroen C6 - 500 (best 550)

E250 Estate with large fuel tank option - 600 (best 772)

All ranges roughly reflect the driving each car does - although now citroen has replaced 1M as a commuter i expect (hope!) range will drop as it becomes more of a sunday driver.

I did a trip to Abbott Racing and back for a remap, then on to the shops and back, on one tank in my old 9-3 Aero (2001). Odometer showed 432 miles for that trip!

I could regularly achieve over 1000 miles of mixed motorway, and town driving, on a tankful, in my previous Passat 2.0 ltr bluemotion (if I brimmed the tank) But with the current one (a 1.6 Bluemotion) about 800 miles is the best I have ever seen.
The problem with the 1.6, is that it is `just' adequate for regular driving (it is a fairly big car, for a 1.6 litre engine in any case) but it is found wanting, in both performance, and fuel consumption, when there is the need to press on, or when I have a car full of passengers, and their luggage.

Regularly see a theoretical range of 1150-1200 when I brim my V70 D5.

In reality I get nearer 900, 95% steady motorway work. 70 litre tank.
Hell, my 04 plate would say 800 but I never got more than 600 (40 mpg).

The maser will do 400 miles on a run (warning light comes no at 320) but 200-220 if I'm 'using' it.
Mines pre diesel particulate filter which helps with the mpg. Overall average is hovering around 56 mpg with a best tank mpg of 63.

40 seems very low.

Cost approx £1000

To get that you would have to cruise at a steady 60-65 but it's certainly capable of it.

Interesting...

The 2.0TDI bluemotion was 110BHP, the 1.6TDI bluemotion is 105, so it shouldnt make that much of a difference.

I'd a 2.0TDI bluemotion and could get around 1000 miles to a tank - great cars!

I've a late 2012 Golf 1.6 TDI and have been averaging 66mpg over the last 11000 miles, filled brim to brim though theres normally only me in it and its long steady runs all the time an its a smaller lighter body

The M135i averages about 220-250 miles between fills, although it will do 400 quite easily driven gently on the motorway.

Very impressed with the X3 20d we recently got as a family wagon which does 540 miles even with SWMBO's rather "full on" driving style, and >600 miles on the motorway, not bad at all for a brick with a fairly small 14.7gal tank!

current model bluemotion (as in, the spec level) is only available in a 1.6TDi with 110PS. There are a variety of other spec levels available with "bluemotion technology" which includes a 1.6TDi and a 2.0TDi, with the latter being 150PS. I know PS not quite the same as BHP but thought worth mentioning as i think your figures are out.
